33/min aint that incredible. 2/3 years ago there was regular outbreaks of 200-300/min+ storms

I think 33 strikes per minute for a storm that is currently in Scotland is quite good, although I don't live there so I'm not sure if that is good or not.

Utterly galling that they should be getting big storms and not England as well lol.

It seems to me that NE England and southern Scotland do quite well for storms these days while we get sod all. Makes no sense.

Storms seem to die over us and then reinvigorate as they head over the dales with newcastle getting battered...

There have been some cracking storms over the dales in recent years. We get the hotter weather but no payout.

Yeah I think we have had some unlucky near misses two. Skipton got a cracker last year which headed up past greenhow. Damage to crops and property due to large hail and 300+ strikes/min...

Cloud is building here. It'll probably evolve into storms as it travels NE.  Though I am curious how the line of rain between Chester and Stoke-On-Trent evolves as it moves NE.

Last year I also got to watch all those storms trundle up along the Vale of York, including that big one that hit York itself. Heard lots of thunder but never a direct hit.

I'm thinking of heading up to the newcastle area to maybe catch a big storm. But weighing up whether they will be severe enough to warrant that drive

Yes,waiting myself,just wondering what that ppn will do out west,maybe meet up somewhere later

@Supacell,are you chasing today?

Not that I’m expecting anything I hasten to add, but unsurprisingly despite the intense heat (even in the shade it’s positively oppressive) the atmosphere is as capped as a onion seller in Brittany!

Storms looking tasty across S/E Scotland right now - interesting to see if it fires further south across N England

It's really trying but I think the forecast is going for initiation later on in the evening if it does do anything that is.

Yeah can see what happens  . Ideally I'd like it to fire off over the dales with lots of lightning and do what it usually does, has severest weather towards that east coast just before dark before pushing into north sea..

A few rumbles and flashes here but nothing special for round 1.  Hopefully more later.

The sun today would have been perfect to fuel up some storms, should make another interesting radar watch later for the North
