Nightmare last night...power cut, no fans or anything - it was like trying to get to sleep in a sauna. Lightning was flashing all around and as there were no lights in the house the lightning showed u

Out on this morning's walk and as promised this time with camera at the ready. And I was lucky enough to hit the jackpot with this great display of virga from cloud in the distance. And you can see wh

It's fair to say that is one rare looking lightning map right now.. You don't get to see that many big Storms at night in our little island....

In East Grinstead on my travels. Can hear a very powerful storm to our south. Difficult to guage distance as sound carrying so far tonight. The A22, some 2 miles distant sounds like it’s right outside! Breeze picking up too ?

Storm incoming! Really hoping we get something here in NE Surrey. We misses out last time, it appears to be heading towards us??

Agreed, it has all veered east on previous attempts, but tonight's lot seem to have initiated far enough west and to not be steering too much east. We could be in for quite a show if it all works out:)

Made a snap decision to bring my drying garlics home from the allotment in case of a light shower...well we may be getting more!  It was 27.c at 9.30pm and the skies looked unstable. But I watered as I presumed no serious rain or storms.

Glad I'm back home in bed now but I suspect I'l lbe woken again soon!

In Seaview on the Isle of Wight (should I be in this thread? I am usually in Surrey!) and we have had a light show to the south for about an hour. Getting closer now and now starting to hear the rumbling thunder! Not going to sleep much tonight.... Dorking has missed out on all the storms so far so very excited about this!

Stuck up between Leith and Holmbury Hills we haven't seen anything so far..... Breeze is picking up though....

I have grounded myself as I don’t like lightening strikes on my furry behind..

Have made an executive decision to continue to raid the fridge and await the show

I can see the lightning lighting up the sky when I look south, from Epsom. It looks pretty severe!

I’ve peered out of the bedroom window south facing and there’s some great lighting. Surely will only get better as it comes this way.

Same here. Just looked at the skies to the East and can see distant lightning. Time to try some sleep.
