Whoever enjoys, or wishes for this kind of heat seriously needs to see a psychiatrist!  Boiling in my office, fans on full blast and I have the dreaded train journey home later, just so I can sit sweating in my front room till it's time to lay in bed boiling to death.  Did I ever say this kind of weather also makes me a tad tetchy?

Met Office forecasting 38'C in Northolt (where I'm from) on Thursday. Never seen that on a UK forecast before.

33c forecast for Bexhill on Thursday; Let that sink in; A forecast, two days away, is showing 33c. DIRECTLY ON THE COAST. Add 1-2c on that... Good god.

Sitting under a shady tree at the back of our house. Have set up the hose on a stick so it is about 6ft off the ground with one of those water guns. Used the mist setting.  Doesn’t use too much water and you get a gentle mist blowing around. Nice and cooling.  Helps I don’t have a water meter.

My garden tells me in the shade here it's 34.2.

Probably not totally correct. But yuck.

A very light breeze mind and a bit excited to see all those storms i will miss.

Already been getting headaches and feeling a little dizzy.

Really don't think I can drink much more water.

32oC here in north Kent. Starting to feel humid indoors. Tonight’s gonna be sticky. It’s going to be an uncomfortable 72 hours

Hard to believe posters on the MAD thread hoping we get to the 40’s on Thursday. This weather is completely worthless when you’ve gotta do a full days work in it, roll on winter with overcast skies and 13 degrees

That's what the GFS is forecasting for Christmas, overcast 13c not 40c

As I’m threadless ! have decided to pollute this thread with my moaning !

Utterly disgusting here now . 37c , humidex 43 . No wind at all .

Several locations north of here now reporting 40c .

Top reading as of 15.30 French time  is Brive 41.3 c, followed by Bordeaux at 40.1c.

Try getting some electrolytes from a sports drink and get your pulse points cold. ie cold wet flannel on neck and wrists

Thanks , I don’t mind hot weather but when it starts heading into the mid upper 30s that’s hideous .

Anyway an update from French forecasters for Thursday . Temps widely 37 to 42 across a swathe of France running from here , yuk ! to ne France . Locally higher .

They don’t expect the all time French record to go but lots of cities north of France should break their all time records .

You are always welcome here Nick, nice to see you outside of the winter months:) We had a very hot walk along Kingston riverside this morning with the car thermometer registering 24 degrees on the way there and 28 degrees for the drive back to Surbiton. I must say, at 10am it was glorious but now it is sticky and uncomfortable. I dread sleeping in this weather, similar to others I struggle to breathe and had one large fan plus an air purifier on the go last night which worked, but as the brickwork warms and the temperature continues to rise I'm not sure this will still be working on Thursday. We are on the far eastern extent here of the storm warnings for this evening so not holding out hopes - this year we are either too far east or too far west it would appear.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
