A short period of light to moderate rain in Norwich during the last hour. I even had a brief glimpse of sunshine earlier (well, the roads had faint tree shadows so sunshine of sorts!)

Finally joined in with the rain in Portsmouth - 15mm in the past 30 minutes, up to an intensity of 58mm/hr at one point. And a clap of thunder as it departed. Next please!

The bin men were early today, as was the man with a van who comes along and deep cleans ours. They must be expecting rain.

Seen some nasty pictures of floods, and although we did get rain, we didn't get anything more exciting then light drizzle all day yesterday.

where my thunder at 😞

Rain was expected to move into East Anglia by late morning and away from kent, with showers/storms... WRONG! Heavy rain has encroached all of the south east and into east. Way way way wrong 😞

This rain definitely looks a bit further south than expected? Could inhibit those storms developing.

Been peeing down since 11am here in Suffolk, looks like possibly another 2-3 hours of it to come.

Yes, there was a glimmer - raining again now, though with more to come.

Local BBC forecast at 1:40ish suggested the rain clearing to the far west of Norfolk and the Cambridgeshire/Northants area by 16.00.  It's now 14.35 and there's still plenty more to come, so MeteoGroup were obviously incorrect as well.

Not the finest of performances from the various forecasts, suggesting no widespread rain, just some heavy showers around. Well this afternoon you can't even see our Region on the latest radar image.

3.05 mm since midnight - by my calculations that means that we've had over 50 mm so far this month.  From my research, the June average for Norwich i around 50-52 mm, give or take, so any further rain (showers tomorrow and Friday, for example) will help offset our deficit.

EDIT: 3.3 mm now; 50.3 mm total.

MET OFFICE! Wrong and even more so than the beeb, look at the sun/clearance in the south east by midday.. Still raining hard now and more to come, far far more than expected and much further south

Walking through the rain earlier I couldn't help but think we would be crying out for this setup anytime between December-March. Cue the raging SWlies come winter...

Knew the warning for thunderstorms was completely overkill even before today started-  where was the back up from the charts? It was always going to be a spell of moderate rain. Beeb and meto went off on a tangent shouting about thunderstorms, nothing new lol

Local MetO did show rain up to 5pm - so can't say they were wrong. It was just much heavier than I thought it would be. The footpath outside was like a river when I walked home, up over my ankles in places. Luckily it hadn't gone over the doorstep, but it was a close call.

More embedded convection I think and it's still pretty early days.. The models didn't show much till 3pm onwards..

6-9pm looked juicy around West London too.. But with how things have panned out I don't think we can rely to much on models.. Just a case of look and see
