Fantastic stuff yesterday, finally some active weather to be had and we even have a brand new lake this morning!! Fingers crossed for some stormy action at some point soon. Is variety in the weather in this corner of the world finally making a come back? Let's hope so.

Sun is poking through the clouds here now, the front is slowly moving off to the NW. Will be interesting to see where the predicted thunderstorms will affect. Still massive puddles everywhere, everything sopping wet

Looking at some of the radar screen grabs posted in the last couple of pages, it's not surprising to see that according to Met Office observations the wettest place in the UK yesterday (10th June) was Kenley in the Borough of Croydon with 53mm. The rain band moved through here quicker than expected, but I still managed a very useful 18mm which have nicely filled my 3 water butts.

Weatherquest have posted the following table for East Anglia which averages the rainfall across all the stations in the area and places yesterday's rainfall at number 5 in the Top 5 Wettest Days over the last 5 years:

The worst of the frontal rainfall has now moved out of our Region, but those clear skies moving into the SE corner could trigger some potent showers later:

Weatherquest's station at UEA which reports to Wiunderground.com as "INORWICH55" showing 30 mm since the outset of the month, excluding the 13.97 mm we've had since midnight.  Yesterday saw 16.76 mm.

Compare and contrast, to a year ago yesterday. The Jet Stream way to the North with High Pressure firmly in charge over us and to our South.

Still loads of grey grot here, the sun keeps trying to poke through but only for a minute then disappears

We had 51m yesterday in coulsdon yesterday, which is about a mile from Kenley.  It's the first day for a long time that I can remember it raining continously for the majority of the day ( it started at 03:10 yesterday morning and stopped this morning at 04:18) . Down at arundel today and is warm in the sunshine.

Same here in Uxbridge, there are some quite deep grey skies around with the sun putting in as much an appearance as it's able. I'm hoping there is more sun at home in Surbiton to optimise the chance of a storm later.

Whilst the Met Office haven't changed their website reporting their 'official' Kenley weather station as recording the highest rainfall yesterday (53mm), they have just put out this tweet showing Environment Agency recorded totals. An impressive 94.6mm at Ham Hill, Kent, in ONE DAY. :shok:

I know that I've argued that East Anglia and the South East needed rain, but not quite that much over 24 hours!?:drunk-emoji:

Anyway, it's remained grey with patchy drizzle here all day.  Weatherquest's station at UEA reporting 16 mm since midnight last night on Wunderground, so we're not far from the average June rainfall already, with possibly more to come tomorrow.

A line of potent showers developing to the S of London. Clear skies can’t seem to push NW of the capital, though. Still loads of grot covering the sky over Heathrow, with very poor temperatures again (14C here)

Crash of thunder here in Lee, S.E.London  about 20 minutes ago. A slight back-building convergence zone being the culprit, stretching away WSW down to the Dorset coast.
