Fence panel down in garden with some really strong gusts. Bent down just in time as next doors bin lid flew open and the wind took some empty kebab boxes and they flew just over my head.

An old Chinese proverb says, "If the birds of misfortune fly over your head, don't let them make a nest in your hair." Hope nothing from the Kebab boxes landed in your hair!

Worse is when you are putting recycling in the bin and the lids blows down and hits you on the head. Believe me, that hurts! Thought my head was bleeding afterwards.

Lol nothing landed in my hair thankfully.

I bet that hurts, the force they opened today could break a nose!!

Sunny most of today, but that wind a tad too blowy to be out in the garden, along with our new walkway to the neighbours.

Just had a shower roll through which looked like it had a decent updraft but I didn't see any rotation.

Still managed 22.2c in all the wind today (so far the coolest day this month) - not saying a lot, we might finally get a 'cool' day eventually though have to say felt a tad chilly this evening.

Morning gang,

Yesterday will certainly go down in the books I think for a lively August storm..

Quite widespread incidents... Fallen trees etc Ascot also cancelled a massive gig because the stage suffered damage from the wind...

It just shows.. 50mph + winds casue havoc to us.. Now Imagine the 100+mph winds in the typhoons currently on going... Jeeeeeeez

Temps still remaining just above normal here, had a max of 22.5c here today - not 1 day so far this month even slightly below normal but fancy that might change in the next couple of days.

Pathetic isn't it? Been over nr Towcester at a dog show today, lovely build up, drove through various heavy rains on the way back via A605 etc, got into Norfolk and the roads were pretty much dry. No measurable rain at home either. Radar showed everything travelling north or south of us; maybe we'll get some rain in November?

Approximately 10 am there was an unexpected heavy shower of rain.  The rain has refreshed the whole garden lawns and plants.

More beautiful refreshing rain for my garden.  It started at 11:00 with light drizzle which has been gradually getting heavier until it has become a heavy downpour.

The temperature at 11:36 am 17°C with 72% humidity.
