My Davis Vantage Pro 2 was showing 34c at 11.15. I had to ask the wife to go and check for me as she is at home. She thinks I am nuts

It’s feeling really nice and warm in the shade here in Eastbourne, with only a few fair clouds around. Hopefully it stays like this all day today as i would like to see some records broken.

31C at UEA with 38% humidity - thankfully, the low humidity is helping it not feel too oppressive as yet.

Fantastic weather.

Around 33c already and actually feels like Andalusia in Spain out there. Even has that abroad smell if you know what I mean.

What an incredible day for us weather enthusiasts & if we do break the all time temp UK record and talking point for many years to come

Even if cloud scuppers Heathrow's chance, Cambridge is currently neck and neck, so hopefully any cloud would hold off longer there.

Yeah, I suspect somewhere is going to break the record today, regardless of whether its the London or cambridge hotspots. Quite possible both go over 38c today based on what we have seen thus far.

Another line of cells starting to develop coming out of France and into channel, again will be worth seeing if they stick the course, especially in the more stable eastern side, though these have the advantage of starting further east, so cloud cover risk from these are quite considerably higher than previous convection.

GFS already looks a bust for temps today .

Looks like it’s underdone the heat by several degrees .

Remember yesterday I mentioned the close CG strike on Tuesday night?  Apparently, it hit a house a couple of roads away from us, probably only 250 yards away as the crow flies.

Hence Meteogroup's regional BBC news forecast yesterday evening is also, as usual, completely incorrect.

88F/31C at UEA still - think 34C is likely here today, which I think would be pretty much equal with 10th August 2003 - does anyone know the East Anglian record?

Currently 33c here before midday. A fairly stiff breeze but it feels like you are being hit with a hairdryer.

34c at Kew was the latest highest recording we've had, so still well on track.

Cells in the channel are a possible issue, landfall for S. England some time around 1.30pm, so into the London region near peak heating close to 3pm. Of course no certainties they make it that far, as per the previous round of cells that rotted away on the eastern side in fairly spectacular fashion, and its the eastern side that really counts here.

Edit- nearly 32c here now, but with patchy mid level cloud from decayed cell coming in.

Just ticked over to 35.0c here and am in one of the possible sweet spots for the record.  I don't have a proper weather station set up these days but it is in the shade and off the ground.  Hard to know how well this thermometer is calibrated but it always seems close to official recordings nearby so I'm thinking it must be close to correct.

I was working in London for the 2003 record and it was hell, today I have the pleasure of paternity leave and being at home - cracking timing!!

I still remember late June 1976...35C, on the LWC's roof, at midday...It just stayed the same all day. Very frustrating!

In Southwold in Suffolk. Bored and hot. Waiting for British Gas to turn up to replace the meter in my mother’s cottage.

Be nice if you could do something about the Shitehawks. Noisy, filthy intimidating things. Just spent an age cleaning off the crap that covers everything. Real health hazard.

Cell appeared just off the North Norfolk coast near Blakeney.

EDIT - I can see the top of the anvil from here - far off my my NNW.  It appears to have hit the cap and stopped, but it's producing ppn. ccording to radar.

I'm here. Literally dripping with sweat. Had a shower but it felt pointless! I'm kinda enjoying it, kinda not!
