Tonight looks fairly likely that some scale of MCS will move up from Northern France.. There is still some debate how far west or East this system will be. BUT using the current radar and model data we have. EURO4 is trending well so is the HIRLAM so I am going to use these models for tonight although things will change.

EURO 4

HIRLAM

Fairly good agreement note though I expect most lightning to be on the Eastern side of this system..

Current model agreement is pretty good ...

Most likely idea based on current model data is a risk area something like this..50% chance

 track.thumb.jpg.037470b19bc4d184bd03ada0d5dc9fa3.jpg

But these 2 ideas are also up for debate.. 30% chance

1472810561_track2.thumb.jpg.bbf69e51e29e56874db7d344a2ba9057.jpg

finally idea 3 although the most likely outcome last week it has been trending west.. 20% chance

I'm not particularly fazed by the westwards trend... Convective wx still has us comfortably in the MDT zone... Come on, Sussex!!

It was 22oC at 6am this morning as I passed Gravesend....generally though it was between 19-21oC from Medway through to east London. That's an impressive overnight minimum for the start of a hot spell.

Although I don't think it'll be that hot (temp wise) for most east of London but with the humidity it'll feel it. What we will notice, as the cloud cover will hang around, is temps not dropping off at night so warm and sticky nights the order of the week.

Convective Weather area of 'medium risk' of storms for today seems a tad too far east compared with what high res models are suggesting from the cumulative rainfall totals over the next 36 hours:

Cum rainfall Arpege, Hirlam and NMM to 14.00 Tues:

On to Tues and the local forecast on the Beeb showing some really heavy precip coming up from the south in the early hours. Hirlam (centre chart) the closest match to the Beeb forecast. Whatever the final track, looks like somewhere in our Region is going to experience a soaking!

Today I am like a child on Christmas morning.

West Sussex looks like its slap bang in the middle of the firing line according to the computer models, and there is good agreement between them all for once, rather than all saying different.

Was 21c when I left this morning, but walked into work along Worthing seafront and it felt cooler with a nice breeze.

BRING ON THE STORM!

Loving this proper taste of summer! Temp rocketing in the early sunshine (not that it dropped much overnight). Already up to 21.7C at 08.58 here in rural Suffolk.

Well it appears that a fair few of us are in the firing line. NE Surrey looking good. We missed out on the last one, so be good to see a light show this evening!

morning all.

Not long back from the school run and the temp is already a muggy and sticky 24c!!  It was mostly clear skies, but has since clouded over.

I am looking forward to the potential storms later on. That's if it doesn't miss me lol

Much cloudier than I expected, yesterday and today.  Working from home, so would be nice if the sun showed an appearance.  Fingers crossed for some more storms later!

Yesterday at 9am I recorded 18C & 85% humidity... this morning at 9am it was 22C & 82% humidity. Therefore feeling very oppressive, especially compared to last week when it was 22C with just 52% humidity.
