Will be interesting when that squall line comes through, had some hefty gusts here most of the day

Well, it's just started to rain here in West Sussex. A rather more intense band is a little way behind - approaching Southampton.

You can see it on the rader, thin strip of bright red, this will pack a punch if it stays together

Hopefully once it arrives ( very shortly now ) it will be a short lived event. Squall lines tend to sweep through in 5-10 minutes. Quite impressive when they happen though.

Wind has really picked up in the last 15-20 mins, im watching the footy, and I can hear it roaring, just waiting for the squall line to steam through

It’s been a rough day here, I popped to Hastings and guess what happened to my bubba again, I was even holding on to her it was that strong. My youngest son who is afraid of tithe wind and rain has had a particularly bad day bless him.

I’m  waiting for the squall line to come through, it could be interesting especially if it stays windy.  I’ve just stuck my head out and it’s now spitting so it’s close by.

The cold front was pretty intense in Clacton. Horizontal torrential rain for a few minutes. Calming down now.

Finally the first proper convection day of the year with numerous growing cumulus clouds and heavy rain/hail being seen underneath them, I also had a very localised hail shower that lasted for only 5 seconds which at first I thought was some pebbles falling off a car or being flicked from the road.

Just had a very brief shower of small hail here in St Leonards on Sea. It's still quite breezy down here on the south coast but nowhere near as bad as the last few days. At least the sun is shining.

The same has just happened here in Colchester

Getting lots of light showers, where you look up thinking, where are those rain drops coming from, as there's no cloud that looks like producing anything. Just some fluffy almost see through just forming cumulus.

Proper April weather we're having. Been gardening for the last hour and had huge gusts, icy rain, hot sun on and off. Can't say the weather is boring I suppose!

The Met Office forecast for South Ockendon said there would be light rain lasting an hour or more.  In fact there has been a heavy downpour of rain which started at 3pm and only started to down at 15:45.  I find that Thurrock's precipitation is always underestimated as I have nearly 4 inches of rain in my rain gauge which was only put in my garden at on the 28th November.  I got the rain gauge to prove that Thurrock's rainfall is greatly underestimated.

Posted this on the storm discussion thread but just in case people don't go there I captured a quite decent shelf cloud before getting drenched with rain
