Looks as though there have been some notable impacts across some parts of the country from this system.  Warnings seemed fair enough, albeit those not seeing devastation in their back gardens may be dismissive.

Looks like the winds have died here today. Effects from the wave to the southwest separating the isobars a little.

Here's the top gusts around our Region from Storm Freya. So it appears we didn't make 60mph anywhere. It also appears that the worst of the storm had departed our shores by midnight, as the following gusts were all achieved during Sunday. Here's the Meteociel chart at 23.00 showing the area of strong gusts clearing out into the North Sea around the Wash.

Not during the storm, but during the squally wave I seem to have managed 60 on the nose, and it was defo more blowy than at any time during Freya.

As I thought really with that "storm" nothing out of the ordinary, yet I was shot down by one particular member for not giving it credit....

Even across areas within the warning, nothing but a bog standard windy day with a few bigger gusts.. 

Take me back a few years when Heathrow achieved 74mph on 2-3 occasions within one night.. That's a proper storm... 

Not really sure where we go next from here.. I mean I know march can be snowier than the whole of winter.. But I like to think we begin to get some warmth and sun to head start our massive farming industry..

Had a line of heavy-ish gusty showers go through earlier in Hastings, Beautiful cloudscapes as they cleared!

Yep that is probably the same line that came through here, looked ripe but only gave some heavy rain.

Morning all,

Although tomorrow's Low won't be as potent, in terms of the weather we've experienced in the last few days, courtesy of Storm FREYA. Tomorrow's Low, seemingly has avoided being "named" but looks to have a bit of a "sting in it's tail", as it exits out into the N.Sea, on Thursday:

We may not have to wait too long to get a visit from GARETH though and indeed, HANNAH (the next female Storm, on the Met Office/Met Eireann list.) 

Overnight Model runs suggesting that Low pressure to the N.W. of the U.K., may spawn some deep  secondary Lows, as we head through the weekend and on into next week:

Also, wouldn't rule out some transient wintriness, as colder "uppers" edge down from the N.W, on the back of these Lows, as they track across the country.

Certainly looking lively over the next week to 10 days.Next load of rain gathering to the south west. 11.8c just now in the capital. Looks like we could get a good dose of spring rain in the near term. Much needed.

3.4mm of rain last night. Decent downpours. Feels very mild out this morning. 10.6c. Heavy showers later. Smells very fresh though, springlike.

For the record, February in the East:

  • Joint 5th warmest February on record
  • Notably drier than normal (75% of average rainfall)
  • The sunniest February on record (174% of average)

Pretty gusty here today, got the big winner coat back out after being fooled by the glorious sunshine weeks ago!

No the naming of storms in my eyes was a big mistake.....it just gets confusing when other weather channels name storms then they change etc etc. Unless a storm posses a threat to life then I see no need to name them.. 

However, that's my opinion and there are lots of diffrent views on this...
