At football this morning. Surprised they haven't called the game off due to wind. Ball is pretty much going anywhere other than where it's meant to go in these gusts.

The winds arrived to South Ockendon yesterday afternoon and there has been near continuous windy weather. When the winds become gusty my doors start rattling.  The average wind speed is 21 miles per hour with gusts of 34 miles per hour.  The winds are coming from a South Westerly direction.  My barometer (analogue) dial is pointing near to rain.

@Blessed Weather some quite high rainfall totals for the south coast by Monday...

Yes, looking very soggy indeed. Most high res models are going for at least 20mm (just under an inch). And did you spot what the old GFS is forecasting for rainfall accumulation up to Weds - over 50mm (2 inches). And that includes your backyard. I suspect it may have gone off on one as there's little support from other models atm, including the GFS para.

Dan Holley, Weatherquest, has tweeted this chart of forecast gusts for our Region. (Chart based on Arpege).

That wasn't Freya but the storm that hit the north yesterday, we have been in the wind Field of that since yesterday evening. Our storm is just a wave on the front or maybe a small low by now. Will deepen quickly, and probably pack a punch.

Getting a bit blowy out there past hour but nothing abnormal.

50mph max gusts tonight for here / 65mph max further north.

I wonder what Asia & America think of our naming of locally 60mph wind gust-  low pressure systems, into a storm name.

Surely they must be cringing as am I.

potential for a few flashes of lightning tonight? there are some rather active shower bands around, with a particularly active one near the Channel Islands, kicking out a few s-ferics.

That's our frontal wave for later. I'd expect the instability to subside before it gets to us though. Just heard a couple of big gusts here.

Convective Weather reckon there's a 5% to 30% chance of seeing lightning within a 25 mile radius if you're in the greyed area.

That wave for later is starting to look a wee bit stronger I think. Let's see what it does. One things for sure, we do not want to get south of it.

Evening all,

As Ben and Alexis have stated above, has got a bit squally in S.E.London in the past couple of hours, too. Was rudely awoken from my mid-afternoon nap, when our bedroom door was opened and slammed shut by a gust of wind. About a couple of hours ago, Colette had to go and retrieve our Wheelie Bin, which went crashing down our Close. It's not been anything too exceptional, though.

As I mentioned in my post this morning, another low takes a similar path to Freya on Wednesday but doesn't undergo the rapid deepening as Freya has done today. So this low may not warrant the tag of GARETH, the next name in Met Eireann/Met Office's, Storm Name list.

Although it could have a "sting in it's tail", as it exits out into the N.Sea, on Thursday.

Looking out further into the following week, perhaps a little interest for us "coldies" that still hanker after seeing a snowflake, in the next couple of weeks.

Quite a rough evening we have just had a heavy squall go through, my son came screaming down the stairs in a panic he’s frightened of rain so that’s how I knew how heavy it was raining. He’s like my personal weather man.

Top hist here still 54, still gusting between 40-50 mostly. Not expecting anything stronger this far south.
