Arrived in Keswick around 9am. Chucking it down, very cold and breezy. Decided to sack it off, went for a nice breakfast in town, and then later to the beer festival.

I think we probably would have been ok to navigate and do the walk but the combination of rain, wind, cold, mist and wet conditions underfoot we decided it would not be an enjoyable experience!

agreed, it can get very unpleasant! our last 3 incidents have been purely down to poor preparation and not having the kit or ability to navigate in crappy weather.

yep, well we've managed to get "lost" in good weather before! Not totally lost, as the visibility allows correction but the sort of lost that would be a big problem in bad weather!

oh yes, we've all misplaced ourselves but at 2500 feet up in bad weather it can get serious
