We’ve been to Sidmouth today. Very unexpected brief heavy showers around the middle of the day, otherwise sunny and windy.

Got home to find washing had presumably been ripped off the line by the wind.

Well that's you b*ggered on both things today then!

Down to 9.3°C here in the past hour although the temperature has stopped falling and has risen slightly to 9.6°C. Looks as if the cloud has entroached here as I can no longer see the moon.

Just noticed it's down to 9.9°C here which I wasn't expecting considering what's approaching. Like you it's not really moving now so likely it's clouded over here too.

A lot of sunshine today and 2 heavy showers this afternoon.

Tonight into tomorrow looks a perfect recipe for a Bristol Channel streamer. I would rather it not funnel itself over the Mendips then Westbury in the morning.

Well that was the morning that was!

Not so much a Bristol Channel streamer as a large area of heavy rain moved slowly over Westbury.

Such was the direction of cloud movement and low sun angle that it was never dull with the sun shining quite a lot and I saw 6 rainbows between 08.00 to 10.00!

Having started the day with the same area of convective rain that Andy mentioned crossing the area, followed by a brighter interlude, the downpours have returned with a vengeance here. Torrential rain and gutters overflowing. Looks like another >20mm day.

I drove to Wells this morning for a meeting and, crossing the Mendips, it was like driving through fog as the cloud was so low. It really is another world up there. That coupled with heavy rain, spray and a number of large vehicles made for a less than pleasant journey.

Heavy showers on and off over the last hour with a significant temperature drop during the showers including right now as it’s only 11.7°C
