Temp got down to 0.8°C but no frost. Decent sunshine this morning, slowly clouding over.

UKV rain totals:

Concerning amounts. Rivers here are mainly chalk fed and respond the rainfall pretty quickly. The River Ems is my local river round the corner and normally at this stage of the year it's a trickle. But it's around 3/4 full at the moment.

Proper icy roads and pavements this morning, although it seemed to be warming up as the cars were melted on the SW facing side. So the first proper icy spell of the winter this morning for us.

Looking at the radar, it seems the latest UKV is quite wide of the mark.

Yep. Was thinking that earlier. Where's the rest coming from?

Not that I'm complaining.

It'll still keep feeding up from the South, but I can't figure out if it's delayed, or the UKV is badly wrong. It shows the next batch to have already moved in, but the radar shows it coming up from the BoB. However, the radar shows the massive arc of rain across Northern England in to Western Scotland, the UKV shows it to be further North and rather patchy.

It's been wild an wet here since 15.00, now it's just wild!  Just checking the radar and wondering the same as Mapantz and jtay.  All our local streams are up and the minor roads resemble rivers.  It would help enormously if the council would clear the drains and get rid of the leaves like they used to do, it would solve many of our trouble spots in weather like this.

Perhaps this photo from 07.45 this morning should have warned me what was coming!

Not too much rain here today,  only 6mm. However, December is currently running at 84mm, and looks like I will be over 100mm again before months end. That would make it 5 months in a row recording 100mm+ getting a little boring now!

S10+ and a filter

Ooh that surprised me! The level of HDR shouts out Pixel 4. I have the regular white S10. Waiting on Android 10 with One UI 2.0 - should be imminent.

I will be selling it in two months, ready for the S11+. The latest leaks suggest it will blow all smartphone cameras out of the water.

More will develop and push north as it is doing right now so mainly pulses of heavy rain with rain light and patchy in between with dry interludes.

After that stunning sunrise this morning, another boring day ensued that turned really foul once more. From -1C in the early hours to nearly 11C now.

Forgot to post but had some thunder and lightning on Sunday evening with several flashes and one close CG. Heavy rain and a bit of hail but nearby Sidmouth had the roads go white with hail.
2 evenings of thunder in a row with one loud flash bang and a more distant flash/rumble on Saturday evening.

Heavy rain this afternoon, the river is the highest it's been this Autumn/winter.. but still not really flooding, no single large falls in the catchment just very frequent moderate falls of rain.

Forecast maps suggested rain coming back in tonight but looking at the radar that's quite far out for here.. a load is going to Cornwall or even further west, and a load going east. So the river will probably be 'uninteresting' and going down again by dawn.

27.6mm in last 24 hours, lots of localised flooding and a couple of roads closed.  Currently 11.4°C and not actually raining.
