I’m surprised at how much rain we’ve got from a SWerly. Normally the totals are quite low compared to elsewhere. The wavering front really delivered last night though.

We also got caught in a streamer of torrential downpours on Wednesday afternoon/evening so the rain totted up pretty quickly.

Haven’t had a really wet October here since 2013 but looks like this one will be added to the list.

Yeah it has been a while since we've had a really wet October I remember October 2013 definitely was wet but this looks like shaping to be wetter than that looks like I'm getting constant rainfall until atleast midday tomorrow hirlam showing 35-45mm around here that's not even including next week. Recorded 8mm so far. How much have you recorded since roughly the weekend of 21st 22nd September when the really unsettled stuff started? For me it's 126mm.?️

We had quite a heavy rain spell yesterday evening, took yesterdays rain to 9.6mm
Wind yesterday did not match the forecast, that had us in 38-44mph.
Highest gust I recorded was 35mph. There were a handful of 28-33mph through the day, but most gusts were 20-26mph.
Did seem a lot windier north of me while visiting Locks Heath during the afternoon.

Just 1.4mm rain since midnight, but is dry at the moment.
Wind has moved to a more NNE direction and is very light.

Calm and wet here, have had drizzle for most of the day. 2.8mm fallen so far.

Not expecting any high rainfall totals locally with the persistent rain, as the front is moving in from the SW, higher ground of the IOW provides some shelter in these setups. When the rainfall comes off the sea from the south, the Downs to our north always promotes higher rainfall here, as was the case a few weeks back.

Currently 12.7°C with drizzle.

This is the problem overnight. As the upper trough to the west digs south the fronts reorientate, the wave forms, and the whole caboodle tracks north east  It could be quite wet in many areas in the early hours.. Perhaps the heaviest batch will pass west of Cornwall

UKV has made a significant Westward correction for the rain during the early hours:

It also shows the rain clearing 3 - 4 hours earlier than the previous run.

Ended up with 22.4mm up until midnight. Looked like it would go over 25mm but the rain became lighter so it never made it.

33.4mm in 24 hours from 09.00GMT yesterday, add that to the 8.0 and 16.5 on the previous two days and it's a total of 57.9mm.  Local surface water flooding all around and the River Wriggle is on flood alert....again.  Of course, nothing in comparison to the 1000mm in Japan in 48 hours.

Similar here, drains are all bubbling over and our local rivers have over topped their banks. Thankfully they are fairly small and mostly have flood plain areas so it's only the riverside footpaths, benches, bins etc which are underwater this morning. As you say nothing compared to 1000 mm in 48 hours. That's around an average years rainfall here!
