A few images and a time-lapse from this morning....not a spectacular show ...but kind of what i was expecting if we were looking at a bank of NLC`s at 70° latitude......low altitude sightings

visibilaty of the clouds started at around 2.30 this morning and lasted just over an hour before the cloud began to arrive

A rare sumertime visit to our northern skies.. and a bit of a freaky post sunrise with the suns rays obscured by something large

Great stuff Arnie, You have a good vantage point there. Mine are v good to my East with open sky's as far as the eye can see. I'm limited to my North due to woodland.

Interestingly, the AIM for 28th of June suggests quite a good showing (although on second viewing, I think it likely better positioned for UK on 29th of June), compared with the "forecast" one.

A good showing was not consistent with my observations though. I didn't see anything but that might be more down to obvserver error or the fact UK wasn't close enough until the morning to take advantage of it.

i was looking at the structure change from the 27th to the 28th... with the relatvely flat bank of NLC`s @ 65°-70° latitude in the 2 day zone to the raging fingers in the one day zone down to and past  60° latitude.....this one day zone kind of ties in with my viewings from last night / this mornings ... visible low (10°) altitude around 2.30... gradually rising to 20° as the morning went on

One thing i do know....i need a wider angle lens

Latest Aim satalite image for Sat 29th June....

.current_daisy29.thumb.png.4056e73eabb2d71b414a7048a64bcee8.png

mmmm  forecast by the Beeb to be clear overnight

No observations from last night....clear through cloud breaks (NCL clouds on sat image back towards 70° latitude)

tonights predicted veiwing... IF clear...could be good......a big mass of NLC`s down to 60°latitude....in our prediction area.

Take in the migration of the cloud around the pole from E to W  (20° transit overnight..)

We must be in with a chance at some stage overnight

Edit; The current SNR signal is indicating activity.....

As good as the forecast for NLCs look this evening, I am not sure it will matter much around here. Bordering on overcast here

Clouds did surprisingly break up quite a bit here, though still far from perfect. Went and had a look, nothing.

Good to know individuals like Arnie and others will have them documented if they do appear though.

Nice one Kev.......Same here had to wait until 01.35 for them to Pop.....Due North at Low altitude ( 5-8°)

Bright for an hour or so while they drifted Westward

A couple of snaps and a quick time-lapse

Ursa Major and Arcturus was clearly visible last night on timelapse and can just see noctilucent clouds above house before dawn

Yes... can see the clouds....just a little bit to low altitude and eastward

My viewing was just to the West of Due North...(?)

love it.....that would be a a part of my 'dream' time-lapse'...the Plough coming down from the W into shot... while Capella moves up to the East.....all above a shiny layer of NLC`s drifting Westwards

All these aspects are possible around 03.30- 04.00 -atm......i can dream

Glastonbury Tor.... No doubt

Last nights showing was more 'the norm' as to what we have witnessed over the years ....the Nlc`s normally occur at that altitude in the sky...in my very high back yard

For a showing for all to see we will need mid latitude clouds over the uk....Which are out there

Latest Aim sat image for Sunday 30th June

current_daisy30.thumb.png.534bb7be759111bbd22a97575d1ede6c.png

Beeb forecast light cloud overnight...

Sunday night/ Mon mornings no show agrees with this image...Most of the cloud has regressed back above 60° latitude....even in the 1 day area which may explain this mornings low altitude display.....a bit of floating cloud around the 2 day area....But iooks likely we will be clouded out imby

Great images/footage guys! Thanks for sharing.

Much like Rob, I have to go for a little bit of a wander to get a decent view of the horizon. There is only so long one can loiter around South London parks before arousing suspicion though.

this is part of the total image from 26-6-19 which shows a bright floating linear feature arouund 73°lattitude which i believe is what you captured

Clear skies here but did not manage to see anything. No doubt there will be at least some activity throughout the early hours though.
