Thanks Jo for that, it does make me more convinced that the GFS temps forecasts are very much on the light side.

Providing Glastonbury escapes from the heavy rain tomorrow, conditions are looking excellent for the festival, but be sure to take sunscreen and keep hydrated in the very warm to hot sunshine which is Likely at times Thursday to Saturday. Looking that much fresher for Sunday which be then may be a relief.

Overall

The final blog for this years festival, and a dry very warm festival is expected, perhaps hot at times Friday and maybe Saturday. Remember to stay hydrated, and apply plenty of sun cream, UV levels are close to peak levels in the UK and are forecast to be Level 7.

The temperatures quoted below are a hybrid of GFS and ECM, they may still understate the temperatures especially for Friday and Saturday.

Ensembles

Looking Dry for the festival duration, High Pressure steady this week, only slowly dropping this weekent. 850HPa rising to over 20c, slowly dropping back on Saturday and Sunday.

Friday - Met Office "Very highest maxima may not to be too far away from the Glastonbury area - highest max in this area during the festival taken to be 31.2C at Rodney Stoke in 2017."

Just north of Glastonbury but tucked behind the Mendip Hills, bit of Fohn.

So 30C likely in Somerset inland, small chance of 31C Friday 28th

Met Office @RichardBetts is at Glastonbury to chat about Climate change. Climate Prof, University of Exeter, Met Office, IPCC. UK Climate Change Risk Assessment. "Anyone at #Glastonbury2019 want to talk to a climate scientist about how we know that humans are heating the Earth, and what this means for the future? Find me in the Green Fields with fellow @FestivalBugs environmental experts! "

For obvious reasons Glastonbury 2020 was cancelled.

it would have been held on 24-28 June 2020.

From the Met office website.

GFS goes for it turning a little bit more unsettled from around Friday.

It's brilliant isn't it, no Glasto in 2018 (the weather was brilliant), Glasto last year was nice on the back of that June warm spell IIRC, and this year wouldn't have been too bad it seems. Washout next year?

Hopefully the weather holds up as forecast, and everyone going has a good one.

Hi, where would be the best place to look for similar information for this year, please?

Ace, thank you. Two weeks out and getting very excited! The netweather forecast is the only one I trust ever since you nailed 2005 – will be very glad to see this year's.

Yep, about now in fact

A week to go until Glastonbury 2022 opens its doors. The weather looks fair but not as hot as this coming Friday. Don't go expecting that heat.

@DanBailey79 - J10 isn't able to write his forecasts this year, but @Jo Farrow has stepped into the fold!

Thanks for the update Jo and Paul. ??

Constantly changing picture but as it stands a dry start and set up on wednesdy but signs that a trough scenario is more likely now as much of the live music kicks off on Friday. The Azores high getting squeezed out west and that’s three runs on the spin now from GFS albeit slightly outliers each time. ECM also going for this too.

Interesting that Met and the BBC we’re quite bullish on the AH pushing in yesterday but tentatively watching each run now

@Jo Farrow how often will you be updatIng the forecast? It much appreciated by the way as there’s hundreds of people on another forum hanging on every run now!
