It could be out of sight very soon if this good weather continues. Certainly looking mostly dry until midweek next week at least.

There has been just 14.6mm of rain and 157hrs of sunshine in the last 20 days here. It has managed to do it without being too hot either. So perfect weather really.

Our grass is actually starting to go brown now too as we've had no measurable rain in 9 days and June wasn't especially wet in this area.

A 2007 or 2012 stinker this isn't (so far).

A really lovely day here. No complaints. Would love to see some convection before summers over though.

To hell with this forum.

A very pleasant summer day here, up to 27C but there was a bit of cloud spoiling the sunshine for a while.

Well the cloud that spoilt the day did produce a decent sunset but would rather have had the sun during the day.

The poor summer continues.

Missed out yesterday yet again as it was mostly cloudy and breezy with temps maybe just nudging average.

Was in Cambridge on thursday and it was lovely, hot and sunny, returned home to cloud cool and wind.

Forecast high tomorrow is just 14!!

No brown grass here, I'd settle for even average temps never mind warm, coupled with some blue sky.

Feeling a lot fresher today, the heat of yesterday has been pushed out by much needed rain and looking pretty good for next week as well, nothing uncomfortable on the horizon.

You have my sympathy

I'm no fan of the climate in the north west but i suppose i should be thankful im not in Scotland.

Yesteryear you guys would always get the best of winter northerlies but they have virtually become extinct .

Scotland actually had a pretty decent June. Rainfall about average in most places, drier in some, and temperatures also around normal. Sunshine also above average in many parts.

In many places the rainfall came mostly in heavy downpours accompanied by thunder and lightning.

Yes, plenty of opportunity for some more extreme heat. August hopefully this time around will deliver something out of the ordinary!! ECM mean showing that gradual decrease in pressure by day 10,but the op was a bit more stringent with it than the mean!

No extreme heat thanks!!   Does nothing good for anyone!!!

who can’t handle a couple of weeks of barely average summer weather, between 22-27c.

We have plenty of 5c to 15c days throughout a large chunk of the year, and I’m glad we don’t have those temps at the present.

Could you handle -30 though, where as i could easily, you would be whining.

In any case, this is the correct thread to do it in.

Yes I could. I like extreme cold, and long periods of snow. I will admit though, I prefer the warm and sunny weather.

The thing I don’t like is long periods of cloudy weather with temps in the teens during summer or low 20s and remaining dull, or longer spells of rain. Rainy and damp weather is the worst.

Yet another substandard "high summer" day.  Didn't even reach 20C despite the all sunshine while going outdoors felt chilly due to that dratted persistent NW wind. The rest of this week looks no better - approaching the middle of July for heaven's sake.

Sadly I've seen this pattern too many times over my seven decades on this planet.  Generally chilly with too much rain at the wrong time (during the day rather than overnight).  Skies clear at sundown leading to chilly nights, a pattern that repeats until the schools go back at the end of August when  the warm, anticyclonic weather returns in September which is too late to be of any real use.

I'm not interested in statistics, my opinion is subjective - actual experience.

Weatherbell had Southwest England, Ireland and Scotland as cooler than 1981-2010 average on their June-to-date Europe map on the last day of the month. There was a slighty warm anomaly down East Anglia's coast. I think you can just about see it in this global June summary, but I imagine nights were mild in the greyness of last month so just daytime anomalies alone could be a bit cooler still, hence the proliferation of moaning.

ncep_cfsr_t2m_anom_062019.png

This month is seems to be also off to a cool start but the cool is at night while daytime maxes might be about average, with reasonable sun levels, so it feels much better. No complaints there yet, though I do wonder if we might end up with the heating going on at some point. There's been quite a few places in Scotland and northern England getting down to mid single figures at night. I'll bet some of them have had their heating coming on in a morning if they get up early. I've seen 2.2C at Shap and there was a low altitude 1.7C in Scotland. No sticky nights to worry about so far!
