Weatherbell shows July 2019 at +0.305C, versus 2017/2016/2002 at +0.311C/+0.379C/+0.331C. So July was 4th warmest. Why does NOAA not cover the poles? How can you claim a record high global average if you don't cover the whole globe? How can NOAA have record heat just south of central Africa (Congo and DR of Congo) while Weatherbell has colder than average for the same? Ditto Angola in Africa and Vietnam in SE Asia? How can models read so differently? I've picked up differences like this before and they seem very odd. Can anyone explain why and what we should take from it?

Fine night with min 13.0C but of course come morning down comes the grey lid and believe it or not, more bloody rain although now experiencing a sunny interval.  Otherwise 8/8 cloud. Current temp an uninspiring 16.0C.

Just remembering the Supertramp track "It's raining again."

Sunny and 19 degrees - that was the forecast for me today. Reality = raining and 14 degrees, with near no sun all day. Worth noting that this month has seen rain falling at some point on 16 of the 19 days so far.

ill go with these readings..simply because they reflect what i have recorded in my location...July was -2.5c below normal was very wet and dull..the NOAA one says it was average which it was not...weather bell says it was 2c below normal which is correct.

Obviously the media are now full of stories about the hottest August bank holiday on record not forgetting of course it's a date which changes every year

In terms of the 26th 32.8c is the current daily record

Since 30C has often been recorded in September, during late August is hardly anything special.
I wonder which weather station placed in a sheltered sun trap will be the focus this time.

Gonna be a long weekend inside with the AC on I think.

Enjoy the heat and bank holiday if it's your thing, not long left before Autumn sets in.

Chance that August might even end up slightly sunnier than average, with the final week of settled conditions.

Good to see warmth making a return to much of the UK, and over the BH weekend. This warmth will be affecting much of the continent too ??

A level 2 heatwave alert is in place for East of England and South East England - London is not part of the warning where they remain on level 1

Current watch level: Level 2 - Alert and Readiness

Issued at: 09:26 on Wed 21 Aug 2019

There is a 70 % probability of heat health criteria being met between 1800 on Saturday and 0900 on Tuesday in parts of England.

High pressure will start to build over the south of England, allowing temperatures to gradually rise into the weekend, with the warmest temperatures in the south and east of England. Maximum temperatures on Saturday are likely to be near the threshold, but then a warm night is expected on Saturday night, with temperatures reaching thresholds from Saturday evening and onwards into the Bank Holiday weekend.

An update will be issued when the alert level changes in any region. Alerts are issued once a day by 0900 if required and are not subject to amendment in between standard issue times. Note that the details of the forecast weather are valid at the time of issue but may change over the period that an alert remains in force. These details will not be updated here unless the alert level also changes, the latest forecast details can be obtained at the following link: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/forecast/#?tab=map

I don't think I can remember a summer with so many days with unexpected amounts of rain.

So many times there seem to have been dry days forecast even a day or two beforehand, and then all of a sudden rain shows up on the forecast at the last minute.

Also rain lingering when there is meant to be just a bit of drizzle in the morning- but it doesn't clear!

It has been infuriating at times. Today is another day like that around these parts.

Summers just keep getting rainier and rainier. It evens rains now when there's any amount of cloud around, when the pressure is high, and unexpectedly out of nowhere when all the forecasts say no rain will happen. Winter is far less rainy around here these days than summer, that's how bad it's got.

This does seem to be the case, and the rain seems to linger more now and appears out of nowhere.  It also often seems to be heavier when it does fall. We haven't had a lot of drizzle at all this year around here. When it has rained it seems to have hammered it down almost every time.

I for one hope we have a dry settled and mild September, overdue now I think, as last year's and the year before were very wet, windy and cool.

Probably a consequence of everywhere in the globe just getting warmer. Warmer air holds more moisture etc.

20 rain days here during last Summer. Currently at 31 for this Summer. Still nothing noteworthy here, so Summer has been excellent. Looking forward to some warmer air creeping in. Looking forward to some night shore fishing this weekend.

Seems to be the opposite down here in summer, every time it’s forcast to rain here it never seems to reach us or just goes around us
