Oh and regarding the summer so far. If June wasn't so poor. It would have been a reasonable summer thus far. Just that month made summer 2019 on the poor side. Saying that if latter August and September( I know its autumn month) deliver/  I will revise my opinion on summer 2019

Is that the total list?

I cannot see 1976 or 2003 in the list?

1907's in there so over 110 years but there's only around 50 or so showing and there are several years for each index result at the higher end - so a statistician would suggest approaching the middle of a bell-jar distribution. I suggest it shows only the lower part of the list (just under half) and 2019 is just below the average for the whole series.

It's just the worst summers...1976/2018 etc would be right at the other end of the list.

Another day with very heavy rain - none of the thunder today here though. Next week looks pretty awful.

After starting off overcast with light rain this morning it has now turned into another sunny and very warm day with a temp of 25.1C and 54% humidity. Its certainly breezy though.

I know August isn't even established yet, but this has been more of a "patchwork" summer. A very bad start that infamously had this year at the bottom of that ranking at one point for a while!, The warm-up at the end of the month albeit briefly. Steady and dry weather throughout July (don't mention the record high!) and August starting modest, but rapidly cooling and a possible warm up at the end of the month.

"Rollercoaster" is an understatement. Prefer this to last year's consistent heat, heat and heat!!

I think 2018 was a nicer summer for long sunny clear spells, but summer 2019 is more typical of what a uk summer is like. I would say it still leans towards being on the poor side though.

Yes we had the heat in mid to late July, and July was a good month overall, but the poor June and rather changeable August to date, has made it a disappointment.

Temps haven’t been too bad, so I’ll give you that, but the cloud has been a regular feature with sunshine only appearing in the afternoons or later in the day.

Thundery shower passed to the east of here so I did get some thunder today after all. Brief torrential rain as well.

i dont think june was poor... apart from the second week that is, whilst it wasnt 'hot', there was plenty of decent, dry, sunny, fresh days

july was pretty decent too

august is august and shouldnt be counted as a summer month! lol..

i think weather historys index is pretty accurate tbh... and this summer will end up 'average' overall.

It depends where you are, but I remember days in June where it struggled to reach even 16-17c in London, and some days were cooler than that. The last week was better, but it wasn’t enough to save what was a very poor month.

I'd say to date summer 2019 has been slightly above average IMBY, temps above average and since the end of June consistently warmer than average with many dry days with partial sunshine and only the odd unsettled day. August until today has hardly had any traceable rain here in the SE corner and been warm/very warm.

June was poor but I've known worse summer months, but of the last 5/6 years or so not any on that scale. 6.5/10 overall

June was horrible until the final week here. We even had a few days with maxes of 11/12C, and loads of rain. Dreadful month. Not as bad as June 2012 though when we had 9C maxes!! You’ll never see that in August however bad it gets.

Today was decent, very warm but we’ve had some showers rattle through in the last hour or so. Still warm though.

will be though, I always think Sept is summerier than June, probably due to warm seas

Have you just got back from the pub? How ever does August not count being a summer month? Yes we get plenty of poor August's but not to warrant that claim.

A few rumbles and a few showers here this afternoon. Went to a local animal farm this afternoon. Was mostly cloudy and fresh and breezy but also quite warm at the same time. Max temp 21°C, currently 19°C but feels warmer. Feels quite humid, especially indoors.

Ive had quite a few thunderstorms/thundery showers this summer, so it's been a pretty good summer for thunder as far as I'm concerned. Better than what we usually get anyway, especially last summer. I don't even think I even heard a single rumble last summer, despite all that heat.

To be honest where I am, it was hovering around 15-19c for most of June, but it was a complete washout. August, yes it's the weakest of the summer months...but some years you never know.

Yes I can't remember too many chilly ones either of recent years even though the CET figures haven't been that great for England but there must be a big diversity from the south east to the north for those depressed CET values in general and probably more of an Atlantic influence affecting central and northern areas as opposed to here.
