Mmm not much cheer from the models for the foreseeable, given the rather poor June, summer 2019 around the Lake District most likely to rank as average at best, even if we do see a second half to August that brings very warm, predominantly dry and sunny weather - perhaps possibly nudging into the half decent category. The next few days look very wet and preety miserable it has to be said, and another wet August to go along with so many looks very plausible even at this early stage. What's the betting the dry sunny warm weather will arrive just in time for September.. its been a recurring theme of so many recent years.

Plymouth Pride Saturday on The Hoe.

Last year it was washed out on the same weekend.

Those drag queens best get some strong hair grips and waterproof mascara this year!!

Cancelled...the staging wouldn't stand the projected gusts.

Still, at least the SE isn't doing too badly, so it can't be officially bad yet.

Can't complain about the weather over the last 6 weeks here.

Not as great as last year but consistently warm, fairly sunny, and it hasn't rained on many days since the 20th June. 22 consecutive dry days up to the 18th July (last July was wetter with a couple more rain days funnily enough).

Only 1 day since the 23rd June didn't reach 20C, and only 3 didn't reach 21C. The average here is only just above 21C.

It does look like deteriorating now but at least we had a solid 6 week period here, although perhaps not much in it for the weather enthusiast apart from one elevated storm as the main heat of the plume was east of here.

Huge regional differences in Scotland this Summer plus any flooding up until yesterday had been in rural locations and that BBC link was from quite an exceptional event. (rainfall wise)

Plus @JoeShmoe and @Kirkcaldy Weather for example live in the East/these areas and by far and large I think it’s been a mostly enjoyable Summer for them with regards to warm weather and thunderstorms galore. (Edinburgh and Fife are the storm hotspots of the UK )

See my post from Monday for here in the West of Scotland...since then more of exactly the same. (Pictures below I have taken within the last three days IMBY) Warm, sunny and convective heaven all around me - barely any rain overhead and thunderstorm warnings again for Friday and Saturday! Never known a Summer like it up here - incredible

What a Summer - if only this was guaranteed every year! ☀️

Certainly has been the most thundery year here that I can remember with (April,May,June,July & August) 5 consecutive months all having thunder at one point or another, the main thing has been the intensity of the rainfall with several bad rounds of flooding here and whites / purples on the radar being a frequent occurrence, as @Northernlights mentioned in the Scottish thread it does appear that these intense rainfall events are becoming more frequent, I still believe that the firth of forth is intensifying these storms somehow. Has been a memorable summer and I certainly never thought I would see the +20 850 temps reaching near here gfs-2019072512-1-6.thumb.png.cea531448c4a65802ebeefcf5d952432.png

Perfect summer day today.. 24C and mostly sunny. It really has been a lovely start to August. Hard to believe it all goes down hill so soon. ☹️

Been lovely today although I only got a max of 21c it still felt nice in sunny skies, hoping for some proper rain tonight and tomorrow as every time I’m forecasted rain for the last few days it gets taken away last minute, the only areas that seem to get it are the areas that really don’t need it

A half decent day (not fully because of all the cloud) temp 22C after mild night.  Managed to catch some rays in my garden. Sadly it's back to Autumn for the weekend and all next week.

A different story down here. Overcast and humid 95% of today. In need of some rain here after all of the work I have done in the garden. July was well below average, and no rainfall this month.

Here comes the first strands of the storm.

It's been a weird say here,  I was up on Plymouth Hoe and it was a keen Easterly and very humid. Gave me a headache tbh.

Very sunny here as well this afternoon, light winds and just the odd white fluffy cloud drifting about. Max temp 21°C but it felt hot sitting in the garden reading a book - sun is still very strong.

Tuesday and Wednesday were a bit dodgy here with a couple of showers but other than that it's not been too bad at all. Tomorrow bbc weather is forecasting thundery showers and moderate winds but with highs of 22°C it should have a warm and humid feel.

I've managed quite a few fully sunny days here this summer (today being one of them) despite living in quite a cloudy area! Currently 20°C with 60% humidity here according to bbc weather app.

It has been a glorious Summer so far here! (West coast of Scotland)

I would rate it 9 out of 10.

Month of August so far has been wonderful - temperatures everyday between 20c to 23c, mild nights, plenty of sunshine and numerous thunderstorms. (2nd half of June and 2nd half of July much the same)

August so far summed up for me...warm temperatures, sunshine, wonderful convective skies and lovely sunsets.

The first 8 days of August have been very good here too. Every day has had a maximum of 21.5C or above, we've averaged almost 7hrs of sunshine a day and had just 2.0mm of rain.

After the storminess tonight tomorrow now even looks very warm at 25-26C.

The 9th July - 8th August has had a mean of 18.5C here with only 5 days not managing to hit at least 20C. Its been pretty good.

Another bbc gripe like I often do, Why do the BBC mention the word heatwave ie "no sign of any any heatwave.

why even use the word in their forecast? to give people the false Impression one might be happen later??. Any way August as been decent so far..Not perfect a coupla days of rain and thunderstorms on an evening but so far I would say its been acceptable.
