Storms and Convective Discussion - 20th April 2019 onwards

Recommended Posts

Currently in Hastings. Lots of low cloud and mist out to sea with the occasional flicker of light. The rumbles of thunder are great, real deep and lasting forever

I'm off to bed. G'night all. I can't wait for any more proposed destabilisation to occur because, in my mind, the chance is already gone. The tail end of the "bad weather" is already leaving the French coast.

I'm chalking this down as a bust. Across the board.

I don't know what killed it but the post-mortem will no doubt show it up. It's a mega disappointment but I suppose these things don't always turn out as expected.

Sun rise would make it more potent surely

Theoretically yes but storms are more magnificent in the dark

I always prefer night storms to day storms, though the main thing I do like about daytime storms is seeing all the clouds build up

Me to! The perfect storm would be huge thunderheads going up just in time for sunset, lit up with colour in all there beauty. Then as the light fades the sparks and thunder takes over for adrenaline filled evening!

Is it just me or is that blob on the right which is heading to Dover showing signs of rotation? I was watching the rainfall radar animation.

It looks rather powerful, we will have to wait and see

It’s raining and not so warm outside - plus the lightning is so far infrequent but we did see about 5 seemingly close and massive ICs.

Looks like finally it’s getting its act together - just a shame about the rain
