Caught some lovely structure last night. Just South of Hailsham, E Sussex, looking toward the coast.

This courtesy of one of my closest friend’s Dad in Eastbourne...crank the sound right up!! Amazing! 3EC4CEA2-31E0-4E40-B801-02CA5200BA65.MP4

In my storm watching spot for the night at Caterham view point on the southern edge of M25?

Don’t be so sure @Ice Day - at some point those storms will shift eastwards so east of London in my view is best...even if it does track along a more westerly path the eastern side should be the more active

I hope so Harry or Ice Day & I will be very disappointed. Last week I was on holiday in Lowestoft & we had quite a storm overnight. A repeat in Chelmsford would be good or am I being too greedy?

The storm wont stay on that trajectory due to steering  flows as it gets closer to the UK. We see this all the time with storms in France they head north then start heading north east as the get into the channel.

I think you are a little west for the main action... Would certainly keep an eye on proceedings, though! I hope you and your son are doing well. I hope this helps!

Thank you so much for your help. I'll keep an eye on proceedings.

    Good luck to you anyway.

You can check out the steering winds at 700hPa to get an idea on where it's travelling:

Tooth must have been rotten and I didn't know it, snapped off at the gumline with barely a crack. Now I look like a proper redneck. Hurts all to hell. Done up on Solpadeine and will have to see how the night progresses. Difficult to focus on storms with the pain. What an absolute bummer.
Good luck for everyone chasing tonight, I hope to at least get out the front door and snap some lightning from the street.

Bad luck. That's nasty. Wish you well for a swift recovery.

anyone manage to find any decent French webcams? Only ones I can find are stills that update every 30 seconds. IT'S 2019!

Here's one from Ouistreham on the coast immediately north of Caen. Right in the path of the current storm: https://www.caenlamer-tourisme.fr/en/discover/enjoy-the-sea-air-on-the-cote-de-nacre/webcam/

Due south is down the path with the flags, where the storm is approaching. (No sign of it just yet...)

Unfortunately, last weeks storm passed around 20 miles to the east of us, I suspect tonights will pass 20-30 miles west of us (albeit based on current trajectory and Hirlam 12z, which could easily be wrong).  Any slight turn to the east and we're in the game, just down to radar watching now.  Terrific Monday night entertainment whatever the outcome!

Can Supercells multi cluster into an MCS or is this most likely in the ITCZ?

I believe they can do. Pecos hank would be the best man I know of to answer them questions ?. If you haven’t heard of him, look him up on YouTube. One of the most informative, articulate chasers probably in the world.

I think they can expand or transition into a Quasi-linear convective system, which is basically an elongated MCS which can form when supercells form part of a main band, and lose their discreetness.

Lovely cloudscape tonight looking towards London, the air is so still. Quiet before the storm hopefully!

That was a great cam during the storm last week. Had almost constant lightning on it for several hours.

It’s building in Northern France as the warm plume heads north and is hitting the moister air. Trigger time

Seems like the trigger has well and truly fired. Heading straight for the moderate risk area
