Er...

Not sure I do know you can see amazing lightning and experience 40C tonight but you would probably have to drop acid and listen to Aphex Twin to do so ;)

If I lived in the Isle of Wight, I'd be feeling a little more optimistic than I was an hour ago!

It's really starting to pep up north of Cherbourg.

Slower evolution of storms moving N likely down to a slower than predicted movement N of the theta-ew plume, likely to move into SE Eng circa 1-2am

Storms should begin to re-develop across France (indeed, lightning activity has picked back up again) and drift slowly into the channel over the next hour or two. The first MCS failed but the environment is becoming more and more favourable as time goes on.

Yep, there seems to be a big storm near Honfleur and smaller, satellite storms North of Carentan, at Caen and North of Le Havre. Deffo seems to be getting going again now big time.

Might be one of the best decisions you make all year

My wife kindly e-mailed me a BBC News article on taking lightning pictures. I read it eagerly.

1. Switch on camera

2. Use a tripod (or make your own...link to BBC provided [ Blue Peter?])

3. Take photos using the long exposure timer. (Left out things like how to cope with alcoholic tremor, a cat that demands food, a teenage daughter who lost her hairdryer...)

4. How to stay safe in lightning. (Hint: stay indoors.)

If anyone said the BBC were not dumbing down, they need to look at articles like this.

I am confused as if the system will keep pushing into south east England or start moving more to the west, will I get any action here in Broadstairs?

Is it possible that the main cluster giving the most lighting is surface based?

As it looks to me the  band that is on a more northerly course, might me the main event,

it just looks more like what was modelled

As it looks like the storm that is going bonkers will end up clipping Kent.
