I'm not sure there is even forecast to be any sort of thundery breakdown at the weekend is there?

Looks more like the Atlantic just shoving its way back in

Not for majority of the UK, but the heat in the South West should create some random popcorn showers (which I actually experienced today in East Wales/Midlands) prefer those than messy areas of thundery rain and clag.

New storms bubbling up north of Rennes in France. They erupted very quickly! No lightning in them, yet.

Looks like tonight isn't our night so I'll leave you guys to the radar watching lol, hoping sometime this Summer we get another spell of heat to spark up storm potential

Managed to hunt out my old analogue radio, and now listening to sferics on low amplitude . Believe it or not, I am picking some of them French storm strikes up. Just the faintest of crackles seems to be corresponding well with blitzortung.

So glad I’ve kept it after all these years, since I was a young child!

Well it wouldn't be, yet. You'd be looking at circa 7am if anything makes it to your location.

Realistically, the fun & games doesn't start until the early hours of the morning.

Anyone else listening to Paul Miller on BBC Sussex?

Yes although on BBC Solent here.

Hoping to catch at least some distant lightning here if anything does happen tonight.

Interesting that it died out a bit when it hit the channel.  Surface based ;)

That main area of rain is not the focus, it's what's behind it that counts.

There were a lot of false strikes last week to the west and north of the main area. Would suggest those near the IOW are not real.

@Supacell and others out chasing, Smartie has added a post on UKWW stating that the current mcs will move out of the highest theta e plume and decay somewhat while a new mcs will form as the plume moves more over the UK. Sounds like we're all roughly in the ballpark though and as ever itll be a case of running that radar back and forth and trying to guesstimate a sweet spot last minute! I'm near Luton now and toying with the idea of heading to the Surrey Hills. I however did not get the day off work tomorrow and am due in wirksworth at 7am don't mind not sleeping but I'd hate to have to bail in the middle of the action!

Something needs to happen, the electrical activity seems no further forward than it was when I came on at 9 pm!

An MCS/multiple storms will erupt somewhere but wont be until 1am to 3am range.  The Midlands has been trying all day to erupt , we could be missing a trick here and it's actually Swindon/Bristol.further west that erupt in early hours.
