Remember, this is not a typical Channel-hopper that’s looking to retain as much intensity as possible; the environment becomes more conducive as it reaches our shores.

Most notably, available moisture increases. A big factor behind lightning frequency (more = higher).

this site is either wrong all the time or intentionally get people's hopes  up over thunderstorms or snow.

Or maybe the weather just doesn't play ball?

Works for me on the new Chrome-based Edge. If you look in the address bar (right side) do you have a little icon with a cross in it? If so, click it and 'load unsafe scripts'

I think it's Java-based without HTTPS

What has that got to do with storms? Off topic and there is a big difference between weather and climate.

Hmmm looking at the French webcams, there's little 'intensity' to these storms. 30 seconds between any flashes, let alone close ones. Hardly a 50,000 and up strike-fest.

Interestingly, the lightning has packed up leaving the north coast of France.

Anyone know what would block the Bognor Regis webcam from showing up on my PC, please? I use Win10 home, Chrome, have cookies enabled, have Flash and Java, etc....

I get a black box instead of any picture. Rest of the page is OK.

Thanks!

Have you tried Microsoft Edge?

I have all the same as you otherwise. It does take a few seconds to load.

There is also probably the Padlock at the top left in the address bar next to https://www.bognorregisbeach.co.uk/live...is it showing as a red line through the padlock?

I thought I might get a bit of lightning, but the storm had lost a bit of intensity.

DLS will steadily increase as the night progresses, the lightning activity will likely flux a lot as it crosses the channel but it should explode back into life again once it reaches the UK.

Steady as she goes.. all going to plan so far

Why is everyone so quick to just boldly state that nothing is going to happen?

By most forecasts and indicators, storms weren't supposed to start pushing in towards the SE until the early hours. It's barely 11 pm and people are already throwing in the towel.

Have a little hope. Also, most storms go through cycles. They may weaken whilst over cooler waters too, I reckon once the first main cells from N France push in over the SE they will begin producing Lightning and strengthen again. But don't hold that to me!

Yeah potentially this storm was surface based & not fully rooted to boundary layer. I expect storms to strengthen through the night as it moves into more favourable conditions.

What is DLS? Is that something like deep level shear?

Thanks - been through these and just updated Java - still no luck. Listen folks, thanks for the suggestions, let's all concentrate on storms instead! I'll sort this out somehow (take hold of large wood mallet...)
