I've recently moved from Coventry to portland Dorset. My first thoughts when we moved was I'm bound to see loads of storms down on the south coast. But it now seems I'm on the wrong part of the coast lol. Obviously i know its more or less a bust around these parts. But on the bright side i can see out to sea from my sofa. So as summer goes on I've got a perfect veiw for storms if they happen. Anyway enjoy your storms for those that get them and stay safe.

G’luck to all who’s chasing. Unfortunately due to work I’m having to stay put - however the camera is ready!

Enjoy & stay safe!

No need for me to do any chasing as i'm right in the middle of the action but I might drop south to get a view of the storms on rural areas. Might get some good footage from Hampstead Heath!

Hard to imagine when you look across Northern France that severe thunderstorms are expected, but they are. I will be heading out chasing shortly. Due to the fact that storms will be moving NNE across the Channel and then cutting a swathe straight through part of the UK I no longer feel the need to go all the way to the south coast, at least not initially. My plan is to head down the M1 to get into Luton around 9pm by which time I am hoping cells will have fired across France. Once this happens I will have a better idea where to go. I will either stay put or head south to the M25 where I can go either east or west.

Met Office radar has them sparking into life at 9pm over Northern France

Will post hi-res images later from the Meto radar when they are all available. Still looking promising tonight in my opinion!

I'm not in the center of the action but I am not far away from it either.

Good luck peeps don't get killed by hail, struck by lightning, washed away by floodwaters ( TURN AROUND DON'T DROWN) or get stuck in a coma because you were hit in the head by a tree!!

I am around the top of the thunderstorm warning, and I hope we actually get some lightning. We don't get it very often in England, and it is perfect for storms. Humidity right now is 85%

Well you have to laugh.

Me and my lad jumped into the car and headed north to that cell that was going crazy north of Shrewsbury... drive half way to Witchchurch on the A49, right in the cell but as others have pointed out it died!

I absolutely cursed that!

Crazy rain though which was something, cut across in the Middle of it to RAF Shawbury and then home. Nasty cell now west of town heading towards Telford, pitch black but at the moment just rain.

Got home... not even been a drop of rain.

All in all.... Not ideal

Best of luck other chases for people tonight go better than that... suspect in the South east worrying about small cells dieing might not be an issue when it all kicks off!

In Reigate we are right in the middle of Barry's Hatch area. I would rub my hands in glee except a healthy dose of cynicism that has seen many apocryphal forecasts turn to dust before my eyes.

I've charged up my camera batteries (I just have to remember how to use the damn thing). Here's hoping for a lightshow (and also hoping the church lightning conductor close by is polished and ready...it's our safety cover!)

Thanks for the charts and forecasts. Let's see what turns up.

There you go @StormLoser - I propose that as the name for this plume event (or hopefully event and not a non-event) - “Barry’s Hatch

Be careful when rubbing your hands in Barry’s hatch... so I’ve been told

Like my fellow bedforshires , I am not in the hatch, but not far. Purple is good enough.

Looks like it will be daylight before storms get north of the M4 so less of a late night and more of an early start for me. If you’re not on the south coast I’d set an alarm rather than stay up late! My alarm is set for 4am here in Hertfordshire
