Rather excited for tonight, For the first time in years it actually feels stormy out. I used to live in Johannesburg south africa where it storms every other night in summer, Feels just like home today...!

It could be further west or it could be even further east circa 40/50 miles - your best bet is to look at the rainfall radar later and watch in real-time. These things are notoriously hard to pin down.

Does anyone have any good software to recommend for storm chasing, all ive been able to find it windy, metcheck, met office, netweather, any additional ones would be much appreciated

I’m not an expert at reading charts or anything but when I was younger before the days of internet saturation, I used to just go on gut feeling by standing outside and having a look at the sky etc.

its juicy out there, the sun is out in Andover (not that that makes any difference to tonight’s prospects) and it feels very warm.

i have a headache.

my gut feeling is we’ll get some heavy rain here probably with a few flashes and rumbles but nothing too significant as that will take place to the east.

The Sun is appearing in East Wales and West Midlands, don't know whether that will do anything for later, but humidity and temp have rose a lot more.

Still cloudy here across Birmingham. I'm certain the Lickey hills produce draping cloud across the city in southerlies. The rest of the region is typically sunny but the city is always drab...quite apt really.

 I hope so. It’s just I have an on-shore wind at surface and soon at 850 mb as well.

I use netweather extra. You do have to pay a small subscription but radar extra is only £3.95/month. It is really good as it provides 5 minute updates and also offers location zoom and so I can see where my car is in relation to the storms.

Cloud has broken & sun is out in Swindon. It feels hot and muggy.

Sun is out now in Sussex. V muggy and a lot better environment for steams than last week here. Also added energy with this strong sun now
