Very good & reputable organisation. Rare to see a level 2 issued for the UK too.

Have they ever issued a Level 3 for the UK?

Rather excited for tonight, For the first time in years it actually feels stormy out. I used to live in Johannesburg south africa where it storms every other night in summer, Feels just like home today...!

Good luck everyone!

Can anyone confirm this, just now? Unusual considering the current conditions.

False return I think, although I did see it on lightningmaps.org

Ah okay. Was just a bit confused as media like met office, bbc weather etc on there video forcasts were displaying the storm to be more towards the west than east, was just confused from the two, thankyou for the information

It could be further west or it could be even further east circa 40/50 miles - your best bet is to look at the rainfall radar later and watch in real-time. These things are notoriously hard to pin down.

I’m not an expert at reading charts or anything but when I was younger before the days of internet saturation, I used to just go on gut feeling by standing outside and having a look at the sky etc.

its juicy out there, the sun is out in Andover (not that that makes any difference to tonight’s prospects) and it feels very warm.

i have a headache.

my gut feeling is we’ll get some heavy rain here probably with a few flashes and rumbles but nothing too significant as that will take place to the east.

The Sun is appearing in East Wales and West Midlands, don't know whether that will do anything for later, but humidity and temp have rose a lot more.

No it is the other way around. Cyclones spinning anticlockwise  is therefor opposite to the Coriolis force but they’re a special case. All air is flowing towards the centre of the low, and this gets deflected to the right causing anticlockwise spin. The Coriolis force on its own is always clockwise.

Thanks - what a plonker... It seems I migrated to the southern hemisphere for a moment...

Still cloudy here across Birmingham. I'm certain the Lickey hills produce draping cloud across the city in southerlies. The rest of the region is typically sunny but the city is always drab...quite apt really.

I hope so. It’s just I have an on-shore wind at surface and soon at 850 mb as well.

I use netweather extra. You do have to pay a small subscription but radar extra is only £3.95/month. It is really good as it provides 5 minute updates and also offers location zoom and so I can see where my car is in relation to the storms.

Sun is out now in Sussex. V muggy and a lot better environment for steams than last week here. Also added energy with this strong sun now
