Fab stuff! Looks like I'll have to wait a bit longer to have a repeat of 2015 (not the 4th July, that was non existent!)

Well that was an amazing hour and a half in Eastbourne complete with a brief and predicted power-cut. That was a proper summer thunderstorm complete with loud booming gun shot thunder, anvil crawlers and very intense rainfall and this time it actually made landfall! Some amazing CG forked lightning which I have not seen as bright or as close for many years. After last year's strobe sheet lightning storm this was a different and very welcome beast. I hope other got to see and hear it. I saw the CB cloud responsible forming to my SW just before I sat down to watch Brian Cox on BBC2.

Reenergising in the channel, it’s still warm and still. Feels like we haven’t had a storm yet

Most of us haven't (in 2019)

Anvil crawlers all over the back of this thing. Some pretty impressive flooding in the Hastings area not long ago.

Oh well. Guys and girls in the east - enjoy!

So far as I'm concerned in Reigate, it's a bust. All radar shows is for this area and to the west, we're in more stable air. East of us - well, you got the good stuff.

Sad - I've missed so much good storm weather. Still, got to see some good lightning on that Brighton cam.

About an hour ago when it was showing 50 strikes a minute I almost thought it was quietening down but recently it's picked up and by the looks of it to me eye more active?

Really hope that development south of Brittany takes more of a NNE turn. Otherwise its going to be (yet another) Kent Clipper by the looks of it...

Same here, shame it's not in a more North direction but I guess with lack of cape and rain from earlier it may have reduced any chances

I'm not sure about developments within this area. There have been 2 separate cells that fired in this region this evening, all died once they crossed the Channel Islands.

I don't think the environment is conductive enough to sustain storms in this area sadly.

Ha! What a waste - who wants storms in daylight hours? (Actually me, I'll take anything nowadays!)

The main reason I like storms during the day is mainly down to watching the clouds build but nights give out better displays ;)
