Definitely hearing distant rumbles from somewhere now... Sounds like it’s coming from the SW

This is the stuff of dreams, the South coast sure is the place to be for night time storms in the UK, very jealous i wont lie! but happy for you guys who have got the first proper storms of 2019!!

I'm chuffed for the SEasteners too, been lurking in here since about 4pm.

Still annoyed that my O/H is down there tonight, he'll just be annoyed by it keeping him awake

Strobing like a good’un to the south of me over the estuary at the moment, totally silent too, love LOVE lightning like this. Awesome colours.

Could be a bit rattly in the next hour or so....

Benfleet, it says so under their avatar

I suspect he's on a mobile device. lol

In which case, if you turn your phones from portrait to landscape mode, it will give people's locations, as well as other info.

OMG. to prevent myself from having a figurative, and literal, stroke, I am going to briefly summarise what I believe to be the best, most surreal night-time storm iv'e ever witnessed:

Rain: Unbelievably heavy, falling in bucket-like tropical torrents, with fist-sized raindrops. Did not stop for a good 45 mins, flooding is inevitable locally.

Lightning: Most frequent lightning I have ever had the pleasure to witness; Came in every variety imaginable, including Anvil crawlers.

Thunder: Started off as lovely, elevated growls, eventually becoming deep, cracking peels as the storm passed overhead. Nearly constant at one stage.

Wind: A hefty gust-front swept it's way through.

I absolutely cannot believe what I have just witnessed, and it easily tops all other elevated Night-time storms I have personally experienced; It was just so... Surreal, and chaotic, I was speechless.

why does this post make me grin like a mad man  a memory of a lifetime ..

Some nice deep rumbles as it edges closer... Getting more frequent too

I suppose this is the next best thing if the storm isn't a direct hit

I can't see the lighting from the east as it misty and mucky and cloudy.

Looking great in the South East, sadly just a bit too far East for here this time round. Though we got a very good view of the lightning and can still see a lot of lightning way out East. Looks pretty cool, especially some of the CGS and Multi strikes.

Almost feels like a supercell! It's got that classic wave when you see the flash, and the distant lowering.. Lightning EVERY few seconds!
