Quite a sight here, can just see the tops of cloud lit by the minimal daylight left. Some towering clouds forming on the western edge.

Feeling more doubtful for anything to appear further west, say Bedfordshire/Northants. I know anything can happen but looking at current activity then it does look like a wider Kent clipper that's going on? Thoughts?

Looking at French Rain Radar, there's stuff out in Biscay that could well reach a wider spread of southern UK later on. But...what sort of state it will be in, is anyone's guess.

So far as I can see anything to the west of the main Caen splurge of storms seems to have a lot less instability. So I guess it looks more like rain.

look at the southwest of that cell and how its trying to push a little west

That’s not the body (core/updraft, that is moving NE) it’s just the top of the anvil spreading expanding out.

That's the Cirrus Anvil.....the storm updrafts are on the NE/E flank

My other half summed up tonight's wiltshire storm potential savagely when I mentioned ..."OOh, looking quite dark towards the south east!"....to which she replied..."That's because it's night time you berk, goodnight"  *sigh*

I wonder if the approaching trough from the west (UK) might pep things up later? Either through compression, or just plain under-cutting the current instability?

(Ahhh - nothing like hope).

Considerable sky illuminations to my SE now...such a shame it’s moving away. Least I can see that now I suppose!

Seems to be doing a right turn as it hit the coast.

What a cracker of a storm, didn't have to go more than a mile outside of Hailsham and got some pics (I'll post later, back out for more chasing in a mo)
Definitely rotating and a low-hanging wall cloud, what a sight!

Think I’m going to call it a night and set my alarm for say 3am to see if (as some models have teased) there is early hours developments. Might watch the SE sky a bit longer in case I’m waiting weeks for further action.

Quick one from me.  MetOffice weather warning bang on.   Exact details would always be hard to pin. But the latest Synoptics from 0100-1300 paint the picture and direction.

Radar paints that its associated with the direction of the trough. White lines not accurate but I'd say it pinpoints an area of interest.

SIGMET & AIRMET states its moving at 25KT to NE.    I'm interested to see what the cold front does and how much energy is interjected into the core.
