to many stations reporting for a false return ..

I agree there are a lot but too inconsistently spread and erratic, there must be some triangulation issues, I’ve never seen that many false returns.

Not sure if this has been posted but plenty of lightning on this came in Le Havre! Just wait till it pans out to the ocean!

UK Metar TAF's have the London airports being affected by storms from about midnight to 1am onwards for Heathrow and Gatwick, 2am for Southend and then 4am for Luton and Stansted. Nothing for the likes of East Midlands or Birmingham. Would tie in well with some of the forecasts I have seen.

Gatwick possibly already affected

Like I said far South East is the place to be tonight. Unless some storms start firing west of IOW then most of the South East will be left disappointed.

Thanks Steve, looking that way now. Quite a bit inland, so don't have the open sea like you do!

Thanks for that link!

Reigate storm kind of deflated and gave up the ghost. Typical - just as it approached me. North of here it will suddenly revitalise itself.

For what’s worth, there’s definitely more of a S-N component to the cloud motion here now and I can see first signs of instability developing overhead, with some pronounced AcCas developing. It’s gone eerily quiet outside and muggier feeling too. Just sitting facing west to see if the Horsham cell illuminates...seems not at the moment. Just hoping the cells approaching Brighton will either shunt further west or new cells will developing to their west. Fingers crossed!

Seems like some west building on the storms, an mcs forming?

Temperatures after earlier rain have got a lot cooler here so not expecting anything despite being in the warning area, should be an interesting radar watch for the South though
