Some small flashes of lightning visible from the coast of Brighton.

Thanks - I don't really understand the dynamics but it doesn't feel right - steering winds seem very much to be SW-NE.  It's all too far east to be worth going to the coast and in case there's a display on the distant horizon.

Think I'll take an early night (and leave the curtains open just in case)!

I am to far west to see any lightning in the east of England and I hoping for a thunderstorm in South and West this summer

I think they're false returns but strikes appeared further west in the channel just now which did match up with areas of precip on the radar.

Everything west of the IOW to Jersey and north of Brest is a false return.

Wondering if the storm core over Horsham way has hail in it? A strong relectivity!

I think I can see the cumulonimbus clouds from that storm near Crawley.

Radar doesn’t return rain though.....one strike apparently near Bude Cornwall for instance.
