Looks like it's heading too far east for the UK. Maybe clipping Kent. Lets hope it straightens up a bit or expands.

In the space of 20 mins 3 or for small cells have grown or popped up. Whether they can survive to London in my case!

Good luck everyone!

Seems that cell in France is heading more East unless I'm proven wrong though some new cells seem to be popping up in the channel

OK, maybe I'm over-reacting. But seeing those ping-pong ball sized hail photos has encouraged me to pop out and pull an old plastic tarp over our new greenhouse. It took us a year to get it sorted and I'm damned if it's going to be smashed by "French Hail"!!

The little crop that's of interest to me is just coming in from Golfe de Gascoigne. Maybe something, maybe nothing for us.I just had a last, before bed walk with Mylo and the backlit upper level convection cloud was amazing against the sunset. Nice and cool too, a mere 24c. Looks like those little storms are just about making it across the channel...

A bit concerned now if I am going to be hit by a thunderstorm, most likely not at this scenario. Although if it is clear enough and those Cumulonimbus clouds are at a decent height then distant lightning is possible to be seen.

The only time I've had a supercell smash job was in the Aire Valley, Yorkshir,e in 2015. I always thought it would be here in France, but no...

Earlier I thought it would head along the French coast but I was proven wrong

It needs to be much darker for you to see it at that distance with the amount of light you have currently. Give it a bit and hopefully you'll be in business!

Good views to the north and south from car park from the beacon

My worry is it’ll be full of people (doing the same thing I am) and there’ll be loss of whooping or clapping each time there’s a flash

I’ll probably head over there shortly and have a look. If you’re there and would like a warm beer or half a prawn sandwich let me know

It seems as though timings are an issue now. Shortwave slowed... The 18Z UKV now shows the main interest in the SE tomorrow morning, circa 6am and onwards.

But wouldn't you love our storms! Now - all that will stop after Brexit you know. Now more Channel storm crossings free of charge and since I'm the first to have thought of it, that's my business - storm imports! Sod that - free of charge for the fun of it.

That's my guessing at the moment, when the storm first started it looked more of a North East but time will tell. Still getting lightning in the channel by the looks of Real Time Lightning

So the French storms are moving NE and will properly follow the line of the French coast. Elevated cells firing in the mid channel with a better chance of moving into Sussex. A few legit sferics over Brest however also quite a few false returns appearing in the western Channel not corresponding with any radar returns so don’t get too excited.
