Seriously wow - that French cell is exploding into life - then it eats the energy at mid-levels across the channel and presumably maintains its energy once it reaches the UK?

Is this the idea?

If it is then we really will see some fireworks in a few hours

Yes

Doesn't feel humid or stormy in Kent any idea why? Is it because of this cloudy crud all day

Clouds starting to break here but still very SW-NE motion. Could do with those backing winds kicking in at some point.

Storms going up now over colchester. Anyone nearby?

They could be SB storms - a narrow window of opportunity left for that in the initial unstable air - so possibly less severe that they might of been if a little earlier in the day and with more heating to power them, but still - a nice little appetiser for what’s to come

I have to say I think anything west of the IOW is now pretty unlikely, the cell firing near is the first to pop, expect more in this area in the first hour or so, northwest extent likely to be Cherbourg then developments moving NNE clipping IOW into Sussex eastwards.

im calling a Chinese, not interesting in long drives late in the evening. So I’m going to enjoy the drizzle for the next 3/4hrs..

You go on a short jog, it is actually really quite humid. Really humid stuff due to waft in in the coming hours.

There's now lightning in the Colchester cell.

I'm tempted to take a ride to the south coast this evening, I'm thinking Sussex eastwards to try and catch any action later, hmmmmm

That line from SW Caen seems stretch all the way to Milton Keynes ( albeit a broken line)

Yeah I noticed that too.

The wind has changed direction here. Changed just before that band of ppn went through. Dry here now, but convection still building even if we are out of the zone

Starting to get more organized now in France. Greens switching to the Yellows on TRAC indicating the ( Moderate ) organized storms image.thumb.png.801ce599b58ab65ba15df9ecee9ffe08.png

ECM 12z modelling is already incorrect and has TS activity well into the channel where clearly there isn’t any. 100% Kent clipper, maybe East Sussex. Sorry.
