So my phone just buzzed with a meto warning for thunderstorms - but the charts aren't making me particularly excited today only for the prospect of some potentially heavy bursts of rain with some weak tstorms possible. All in all - seems a bit overkill to call it a thunderstorm warning in my books. Estofex don't even have a slight on us today :cc_confused: a heavy rain warning warranted - possibly yes, but thunderstorm? Nahh

The warnings and risks seem to be all over the place while we’re under this slack regime. I wouldn’t discount not overegg the chance of anything happening this ago. Fortunately I have two jobs over near Purfleet, so if there are any sparks this afternoon I should be relatively nearby...

Can finally say our first crack of thunder has just happened, biblical rain.

No time to grab the camera this time due to hospital visits.

But it’s was an awesome rolling crack!

Showers coming off the continent look to be beefing up in the SE

Absolutely pouring with rain here in Reigate. Tipping it down. No lightning (yet). Of course, Monday we had a deluge. And I had to laugh when I heard the neighbour's gardener jet-washing in the back garden yesterday.

After a warm and humid start, it’s been raining here now continually for the past 5 hours or so and in the past 15 mins turned increasingly heavy. Hammering it down now under what look like increasingly convective looking cloud bases - much more vertical component in appearance compared to earlier when it was much more frontal looking.

Might get a rumble yet - missed out so far these past few days

No thunder here but had a very heavy shower earlier that had a rain rate of 75.8mm/hr at one point. Came over quite dark as well

Just seen posts on FB with pics of a nice little funnel cloud an hour or so ago, somewhere between Kingsbridge and Totnes way. If I can find a link I'll post it

It's looking very convective to my south-east. The skies are still grey although there are some big towers in the distance.

If anything I’d say it’s intensified a bit in the last hour. It must’ve expanded a bit too as it’s raining here now after being sat just to the west for most of the afternoon.

Some really low cloud bases with these stormy skies

NE Germany being pummeled by an aggressive area of lightning activity...

Yeah there was strobe lightning at one point as it was approaching, was watching Berlin webcam, and took this snap of it before it hit.

Back here though looks like another immensely wet night, I've heard a few mention there could be some very heavy rain tonight over the north midlands, north wales and north west England, we shall see, but what's coming in from the east is interesting.

Incredible amounts of rain falling over the East Midlands, especially on top of what has already fallen. I fear the river Trent could well pop it’s banks at this rate. There’ll be huge volumes of water heading into there over the next day.

I'm glad I'm on hill since I'm in the east Midlands and technically in the River Idle's flood plains, the fields flood behind my house when its at high levels.

If anything the rain is heading SW rather than NW, and dumping even more rain over the East Midlands?

I believe so.
