Wind direction change shows up nicely on my graph, as it all begins to rotate.

I could actually see it happening from my window. Hence the great big cells that were approaching me never quite made it. Had a bit of drizzle here, but 2 miles down the road they have a deluge!

The weather model I talked about earlier has nailed today's precip so far, even the shower distribution.

Unfortunately, I cannot post any info on it, yet. Stay tuned!

Is it a new model that's being tested?

It was so ominous earlier and it came to nothing but a brief shower, the skies look like they have potential but it's not coming to anything here in Reading at least.

Meanwhile in Reigate we got a bit of rain. And...that was it. Sigh. Enjoy your storms!

Rain here in SE London / NW Kent turned into something a bit more convective in nature - quite heavy rain and a nice rainbow - no pics as was carrying a large umbrella which did naff all in terms keeping me dry!

Sun back out here now (ish)

Well that was another total waste of a days energy. Can’t say I’m surprised.

Sunday and Tuesday were looking good but then analysing it a little more it’s already being shifted away from our area northwards and westwards.

Another distant chance on thurs but that appears to now be for the northern and eastern areas. Means i’d have to drive round London then several hours up the A1.

So a very, very real possibility it won’t be until July we get anything - even chaseable - around these parts, so I think I’m gonna give up trying and hopefully finish my project and earn enough cash to go over to the continent.

Just not worth the effort for our area. Sorry if this sounds like a moan. But, well it is a moan. ?‍♂️

I felt really positive this morning that we were going to get thunderstorms today, however at this moment I don't think we are going to get any. The storms and heavy bands of rain near Bristol down to Exeter will probably just weaken into heavy showers by the time they reach here. And because of sunset the convection rates will drop.

I felt the same.

That was a weird experience. A storm just exploded into life right above our town in a line just North of Bristol. Not seeing much lightning, but constant rumbles of thunder above and just hammering with rain.

The sky is looking threatening here between Gloucester and Cheltenham. As I type, distant flash and deep thunder... happy days!!

Although I wasn’t home, my location took a near direct hit from the thunderstorms moving up through N Somerset.

Instead, I was driving back from Wells across the Mendips and got an awesome visual on the cells with multiple lightning strikes visible. Had I not got stuck behind so many effing farmers and dippy drivers, I might have caught the back end of the storm that marched on up to west Bristol.
