As I expected there was absolutely nothing here yesterday thanks to the lack of land fetch; another mostly dry and sunny day. Had to be content with watching storms 20 miles to my south.

Had a faulse strike earlier this morning here; seem to have been a few of them this year.

Correction: actually it was not a false strike it was genuine. I always set up my microphones and record when there is a storm risk and sure enough I can hear thunder at the time of the strike. Get in.

Looking reasonably spicy for this afternoon - according to PJB over at UKWW. No Tony Gilbert contributions today unfortunately, but in general I find the UKWW storm forecasts quite accurate regardless of the source - so fingers crossed we’ll get at least a couple of flashes from some heavy passing showers:

Flash, bang but no etc in other words

That would be a very apt way to put it - yes indeed

Perhaps play it safe and just ‘flash’

Wrong place again watching the back clouds pass to the east of me. Just a few spots of rain here will need to top the ponds up as they are getting low again.

Wrong place for what? The weather is so vanilla today I’m tempted to squidge a flake in it

Unfortunately, this weekends potential is decreasing to a “blink and you’ll miss it” type fair.

We need that low pressures arrival to be delayed and shunted west by a couple of hundred miles at minimum to really get the most out of it. Otherwise it’s going to be restricted to far eastern counties at best, and watching the real fun unfold on the continent

Looks like a fairly potent cell on radar over Lincs, no lightning shown on any detectors though

Watched that little shower move passing by to the east of us. A smaller one followed which had produced a few flashes earlier to the north us failed to reproduce any further strikes as it also trundled south eastward.

Still not a single storm has happened where I live. But I'm not too fussed because I'm going on holiday to Florida in July where currently they're having recording breaking temperatures so I believe I'll get plenty of my storm starved stomach to be back to full

Still not in the reliable timeframe, but the trend is still there, that we may have one heck of an import around the 6/7/8/9th June. A proper plume straight up from the direct south/southeast with little or no Atlantic influence at all.

One to keep an eye on.

Just noticed that my place has seen a thunderstorm on the 27th May 3 years in a row.

CAPE levels for Saturday 8th June. This day could see some thunderstorms in East Anglia, although this is still more than a week away so it could change.

Dark red is about 2,500+j/kg
