it's an easterly, logically West downwind of hills should be warmest, need this haze to eff off from most of England to get into the 20s widely there. Should beat Febs temp but nothing record breaking like April 2003

Good luck to everyone who entered

Sorry @seaside 60 the cut-off was last night, so you won't be able to win the prize. Thanks @Roger J Smith for collating the entries, saved me a job!

I'll update tomorrow morning with today's max, and so on through the weekend. The winner will be announced Tuesday.

It appears that Heathrow is in Middlesex rather than Berkshire (to answer the question posed by MWB) or in greater London since Middlesex does not seem to exist as a county any longer. But when it did, Heathrow was in Middlesex. Now it's in greater London. Berkshire begins very close to the western edge of the airport.

Does that mean my Surrey guess will be null and void?  i think its ridiculous this thing, its like around here, its now called Greater Manchester, where as most people either prefer Yorkshire or Lancashire depending on their heritage.

There are perhaps several entries like that where specifics like Heathrow or Kew Gardens have been given. Should we use the original counties as the definition as requested in the original post?

Edut. I think Feb is making a similar point just as I posted re Surrey.

Guesses with specific locations or wrong counties etc will still be counted, we'll figure out what county is intended and use common sense / fairness around that for the trickier ones.

Bearin mind too that the location part is only for the bonus prize anyway.

Don't quote me on that Heathrow thing, I looked it up and found it ultra-confusing, there used to be a smaller county of London, then a bigger greater London that swallowed up Middlesex and some parts of Surrey. Northolt also could be taken as Middlesex or greater London. I said Middlesex not even realizing that it wasn't considered to exist any more, and when I looked at the map, where I thought would be Middlesex is actually partly Hertfordshire or southeast Bucks. But Northolt and Heathrow often top out if isn't Gravesend or central London.
