Nice looking forward to it. Should provide valuable data as well.

It's ready!

The first beta of the V8 radar is now online. There will be bugs and issues with it, as it's still under heavy development, so please report any problems you see in here and we'll get to them as quickly as we can.

There are a few known issues at this point:

  • Virtual stations may not be using the absolute nearest physical station for current weather display

  • Save settings not fully functional (not saving all options)

  • Image flickering at start and end of animations

Extra subscribers can access V8 here:

Hi Paul!

Using my work computer (naughty) which is Win10/64 and Edge (unsure of build number).  I can't get anything to happen when I select options on the 'current weather' overlay dropdown.  It just keeps reverting to '------' and nothing happens on screen.

I also can't get the NMM overlays to work, this dropdown also keeps reverting to the blank option when selected.

Thanks, yep does look like edge doesn't like those much at the moment. Will add it as a bug - it's good in chrome, firefox, safari etc if you have those options for the time being.

Menu inactive in Firefox 64 bit build 66.0.2 so you can't select anything.

Only Ghostery which I disabled. Works in Chrome and Opera.

Hi

Looks great - agree that you could have released it on a day with some interesting weather!

I have a raspberry pi on which I have Chromium autostart in kiosk mode, i.e. an information board.  I'd love to be able to start this map in full screen mode, with my saved configuration, i.e. location, zoom 'height' and overlays, without any intervention from keyboard, mouse etc. Is that possible?  Or will I have to log in, set the zoom & location each time?

Thanks for the feedback - it would be nice to have some rain to properly test it!

All of those things will be saveable except maybe the full screen option, which may not be possible.  There's a save settings button on the menu at the bottom of the overlays panel (it'll be moved to a more prominent place on a later release) but on this early beta it's not fully hooked up to save everything.

Yet to renew Extra subscription so haven't had a look at this.  But was hoping to see a reflectivity smoothing option among the list of  new features from V7.  Not sure if that's possible, though. Is the reason I still mainly use V4, as for me it's more 'clean' visually. But look forward to trying out V8 when the weather becomes a little more interesting.

Can confirm it doesn't work on Firefox latest build on a mac either. No plugins or extensions installed. osx High sierra 10.13.6

Safari works fine though.

So it seems to be a problem with Firefox 64bit build 66.0.2

I don't have 32 bit installed to test.

I still can't recreate any issue with firefox 66.0.2.

This is a screenshot I just took from it locally.

And trying on mac through crossbrowser testing, it seems fine too:

So, I don't think whatever issue you're having their is directly related to firefox itself, perhaps it's networky or maybe a combo of security software and firefox. I'm assuming, when you say the menu is inactive, you mean it doesn't open, or do you mean something else?

Are you running 32 bit version of Firefox?

The pc's and mac's will be running of different internet connections as well anyway it won't be that. Since it works in other browsers I think we can rule out os issues as well. Also machines are running different versions of eset security and one is running Windows defender as that's a windows 10 preview build.  On one machine if I keep clicking the menu the map magnifies but other wise the menu is inoperative. I just tried it on another mac and clicking on the menu also causes the map to magnify. That's on Firefox 65 before I updated it. The same issue applies when it had upgraded.

It certainly is an issue with Firefox as on another virtual machine I got the beta testing on firefox. Beta 65 doesn't work but when it upgrades to 67 the menu works as it should.

I suspect you're using the 32 bit version.

So the good news is it looks like it will be fixed in a later build.

I found one machine where it works and that's my Linux box. Settings are exactly the same as with the two mac's and windows test machine. Go and figure. However the update to the beta still suggests a firefox issue.
