Certainly getting some stronger gusts now than this morning, but not as much rain as I thought. Is all that precipitation to the north going to pivot and cross the country as the depression moves east?

Given the current position of Freya why would you be expecting strong winds in your area at the moment?

To be fair I haven't looked I am just going off what the Meto say on this one and we should have already had heavy rain and winds gusting up to 20 mph by now. So far it's fairly quiet in comparison.

When are the strong winds supposed to start in the West Country? The cold front (if there was one) seems to have passed and it’s brightening up.

It looks as if you will likely miss the strongest winds in your area, Maybe later in the south west quadrant it may blow a little. thats assuming the likely track.

I was thinking the same. It's breezy, but that's about it.

The one hourly steps from the 12z Arpege geo500hPa (dam) & SLP gives a good indication of the timing of the strongest winds on the southern flank as the system moves across the country.

And here's the latest chart at 16.50 of max wind gusts so far today from Meteociel:

Shows the temp gradient that might drive the storm to intensify.

As darkness encroaches from the east, the setting sun is nicely showing the back edge of the cold front which has already cleared the SW peninsula and Wales.

What's the chances of it falling as snow when it gets to northern England, say Yorkshire?
