Radar is already looking 'busy' out West.

I would imagine Pennine areas of our region might look quite white as the day goes on?

Hefty shower on target for Sheffield as I type

Some early sleet showers and some Snow visible on the higher areas of the moors. Not expecting any much more today unless a bonus shower comes along.

We may some early rain, sleet and snow tomorrow morning then after that it's a case of hope a shower comes along. Looks a frustrating cold spell to me with some being lucky others stuck with frost.

Got a feeling it's gonna be one of those days of watching snow showers head directly for me, then die a death as they near . One of the downsides of living under the shadow of the pennines. Currently cold, windy but dry in Barnsley.

A top gust of 75mph overnight near Settle. Nothing too out of the ordinary for mid winter at 1600ft.

Few places higher up with settling snow in the Dales but more problems with black ice as skies cleared after last night deluge.

Yes I have had my eye on tomorrow night for our region for a while.  Could be some snowy surprises for Yorkshire with a little luck....

Only issue is the mixing of air from the north sea could make it tip on the wrong side of marginal

I wouldn't be surprised if that feature disappeared on tonight run. 06oz has the Snow well to our west overnight tonight. Some showers may reach South Yorkshire later this afternoon but if they do likely to be rain away from the moors. Annoyingly there some showers to the north of us but they are not coming this way. Sadly for us frost looks the most likely white stuff. Grrr.

I wouldnt expect anything from these showers in the day.

As for tonight and tomorrow morning i think were better waiting for the 12s.

Things have trended too far west as things stand but looking at the hi res models theyre all showing dusturbances troughs streamers showing up in different locations at different times betweem now and tuesday night!

I couldnt even make a forecast.

Its literally a nowcast event but under these highly unstable heights were looking at flash warnings and the radar!

agreed Scott and wouldn't rule out some beefy snow showers coming back in from the East to parts of Yorkshire as the low pivots Monday evening perhaps

Agree with this. Frustrating seeing other places potential get snow. I used to think Sheffield was great for snow but we are so centralised it's hard to get some with the Pennines blocking any westward approach and easterlies usually not strong enough

I do tend to hate it when people say got to look at the bigger picture and like 10+ days because whenever that's said it never materialises. Same with supposed warming events which rarely produce anything. I do feel this is a better shot though, not seen consistently cold ensembles for a long time.

Keeping my glass half full. It would sum up my winter / year if we don't get anything though and with SWFC getting relegated too

Gfs 6z shows that feature on Monday night for Barnsley with no influence from the north sea
