Looks like a miss for us in South Yorkshire

I'm sure we'll get some at some point this week, just like a Wednesday victory we have to wait for it.

Met Office just updated to show heavy snow for Barnsley!  I can’t see the precip current in a line south from Manchester pivoting that far North and East but maybe one to watch!

The front is fizzling out and moving South unfortunately

All eyes to the east now. Looking good for a spell of sleet/snow moving in from the North Sea tonight. As with this mornings snow near Manchester some should do well locally and some not so well..

Yep, agree, clear to see from radar.  Yet another example of why we should ignore the automated forecast apps!

Our next chance probably comes overnight but coming from the East.

Yeah I can't see any snow from that pivoting front this morning which now appears to be decaying despite the met office automated forecasts for around here.

I believe that batch of precipitation off the East Coast of East Anglia is what is due to swing North and then West across our region later on.

Whether that is wet or white is whole different question.

0.4 C and a white all over frost here as I type.  Brrrr.
Interesting to see what the next week or two brings

Agree re precip off East Anglia.  It’s gradually moved North and increased in intensity as the low has moved South, so guessing it will start to move North West as the low swings East.  As you say though, wet or white!?!?

Met office text forecast for tonight suggests rain on low ground with sleet or snow at higher levels only but where the dividing line will be is open to question.

Not our last chance though even just this week let alone the rest of Winter so we shouldn't get too down if it doesn't deliver the goods.

Uppers look colder towards the weekend so there is an ongoing and increasing risk of snow for our part of the world ?

Central Yorkshire and West and South could escape the influence off the North sea if winds stay north and north west during these events

Hi everyone, not posted in this thread for a little while. Looking good for you guys in South Yorkshire later in the week. Sadly I think my part of North Yorkshire is probably a bit too low and near the coast for now but hopefully that may change in the next few days! NY Moors and Wolds should do well tonight I think.

On the plus side, current temp here is still -0.7c while the computer generated apps think it should be 1c.

Still 0 c at Market Weighton (with Dew point of -0.1 ) at 10.30 when I was expecting 2 or 3 c , so maybe better conditions for snow later as showers come in off the North Sea

Foggy and temps have fallen this morning from 0.7C to 0.2C now. Nothing of note on the local forecast snow wise a few light symbols and a few light rain symbols but the forecast is for mainly dry boring weather.  So need to get lucky. Glad I wasn't radar watching last night as would punched the computer when the band of rain/sleet and snow stopped not very far away from here. Could be one of those cold spells that delivers zilch.

Well the ECM and GFs think this cold spell will last a fair while so even if this week come sup empty there's plenty of time left.

Matt Hugo has posted a tweet regarding chances tonight. He’s using the GEM but of note it shows a fair amount of precipitation which is mostly snow. Still think T850s and dews etc will be too marginal for me, but keeps me interested!

Meto website shows rain and a bit of sleet for me. Their warning only says snow for Pennines and NYM

Hoping for better. Twitter has been full of snow videos from around the country over the past few days so hopefully we fair the same
