Looking good overnight on the latest bbc lunchtime weather think we could all have a good covering by tomorrow morning I’d say 5cm for parts of west and South Yorkshire fingers crossed

Yep, looking like i may need to get up early for work! Looking like a fair amount is forecast for my neck of the woods. Any snow in Sheffield we tend to get some of the most due to location.

I'm hoping we will join in the fun at somepoint, for far too long when precipitation turns up here ,it's always on the wrong side of marginal, looks the same for later on even though still very frosty here, maybe some surprises

What do you think our chances are tonight?

Hi, I'm thinking more like sleet for us .. but we shall see.
(I'm not clever enough to interpret the charts really, I've only been able to absorb the absolute basics !)

I’m in Malton too and the frost has never really lifted all day. You’re right though, we never seem to get that lucky here unless we get a really cold east/northeasterly. Back down to 0.3c now so hoping tonight might bring a surprise!

You never know, you might get lucky! We’re currently at 0.0c here now when it was forecast to be about 3c by the hi res models. Hoping this might be to our advantage later while realistically knowing that the upper air temps and dew points are probably more important

It wont be anything but rain or sleet for us in a million years unfortunately. The areas that have been under the showers this afternoon to the east (Burstwick, Keyingham etc) are sat at 3-4C with dewpoints of 1-2C. We're currently at 1.4C with a dewpoint of -0.3C, but I suspect it would rise quickly as any precipitation arrives. Its just not cold enough Im afraid.

GFS delays things until late on the in the night and until tomorrow morning for us albeit a brief spell of wintry weather. looking at Johns Holmes guide suggests more of sleety mix than anything away from the hills.
