Thought there would be a little more interest in the coming cold snap, not epic stuff but a start all the same.

We need Sausage to come along and kick start winter

it’s been nice to see the forum have a bounce again apart from COVID not much interest going on in the Model Thread. Been some great posts this week like always from members

Just had a deeper look this morning for round Sheffield and it doesn't look too good on the 06oz run.. Looks mostly rain for us. Peak district should do better. The other issue the rain tends to circle us rather than a full one hit. I used John Holmes guide which went tits up for me on certain boxing day but normally it's 99% correct. Used it a lot of times to beat the met office when they've gone for heavy snow and his methods said zero chance and we got rain.

I must admit I am not expecting much in the way of snow over the next few days.

I think the Pennines and North York Moors could get lucky though.

I am more interested in what could be following in around 10/14 days time though.

Alot can go wrong in the meantime but it is starting to look like we may get some proper cold and potential snow around mid month

Well tonight's run means I don't have look upper air temps thickness etc as apart from Thursday morning as the GFS has it dry for us all the way through to next Tuesday. North Yorkshire may get some white stuff but frost for Sunny old Sheffield. Makes life easier when the vital ingredient is missing.

Just had a look at the cat and fiddle web cam looks rather wet there.  Rainfall to light to cool the atmosphere.

Notice the local forecast has sleet for us later on today and snow tomorrow but I think that's unlikely.

I agree, Best chance with elevation like Head pass and fleet Moss in North Yorkshire this morning very white conditions so elevation and timing will be no doubt where we may see the elusive White stuff. It was always marginal but it’s a start lots to like on the runs leading to Xmas..

Well some sleet here now unfortunatatley  looks like it will die away before it can turn to snow looking at the radar.

Was up at  the very top of Ringinglow Road at around 4pm it was snowing and a temp of 0c at the very top.

It is only at the very top down to the top of Cannings Plantation  is where the snowline is.

Quite a wide variation in what the models are showing tonight in regard to the next 48 hours snow chances.

Gfs parallel has quite a bit of snow for west/north yorkshire tonight, albeit at a bit of altitude.

Could certainly be the odd surprise come tomorrow morning.

Looks like there could be snow falling down to modest levels tomorrow.  The Peak District forecast has changed markedly for tomorrow from what it was showing yesterday.  Could be a few surprises maybe?

I hope so. Would be nice to see falling snow in December, especially with my crimbo decs up! Only had rain here so far today though

Fingers crossed.  Just seeing it falling would be nice.

Just driven to Hoyland which is around 150m and there was some definite wintriness in the rain there.  Back to rain here though....

Seem to be looking a little wintry out there. Just got something to eat then will have to jump in my car for a windscreen check. Good news though it looks like it now keep the prec a bit longer

Been lightly snowing here for the past half hour or so,of the wet variety though and it's not heavy enough to settle.
