Yeah I was expecting a grey sheet of nothingness this morning.

That's here! Though in a way I'm pleased it's not more extensive as it should bugger off quicker.

Hopefully - we have some midlevel instability this morning so fingers crossed for a light show this evening.

I think it's only fair that we send you some north sea rubbish since we nearly only always brew big stroms for you.

Well we've been under cloud since the little shower around mid-day but it's sweltering!

The cloud blob runs down to Sheffield but all around is sunny so temps are being fueled from outside this cloud cover

I'm keeping an eye on any development to the SE of Brum as I'm sure for it to drift over us here in the Valley it's gonna have to form up around there?

Good luck with it all though folks!

Anything over brum will move north north westward so won't be any use to us. Tonight I wouldn't mind some north sea rubbish as it'll cool the house down. It could well be an issue again tomorrow morning. No storms tonight so make or break days Tuesday evening and Wednesday.

North sea rubbish back again cooled the house down nicely. Now it can go away again.

Yeh north sea rubbish beginning to lift. Interesting how warm this air is as the temp has gone up by over a degree despite no sunshine

Much more promising today so we may in for some fun later.

The Peak District will be one of the places potentially providing enough forcing to trigger an isolated thunderstorm today. One can hope!

Didn't hear one rumble of thunder but spent a pleasant hour, up to midnight, watching the lightning out to my west (over 40 miles away!)

If it's all that's on offer you grab it!!!

Have I put the curse on things by saying it looks promising?

So far this week top two ponds up either action should have produced a reaction from the weather gods. One more to go will that do the trick?

Approaching 30c here. Didn't expect that today. Met saying 30 tomoz as well on website.

No clouds though so storms are being elusive so far.....

EDIT: 31.5c now!

Well if the forecast I read earlier still stands we've gone past the temp required to break the cap. However the sky looking east looks fairly stable at the moment.

One or two towers trying to go up. There was one an hour ago that seemed to be forming an anvil but soon disappeared again.

The only ray of hope was from an earlier forecast which seems to be right in regards to storms is this

Most surface-based storms will probably only last a couple of hours given the strong cap in place and lack of notable forcing aloft - however, the shortwave associated with elevated thunderstorm activity over SW England today may allow thunderstorms that do erupt over Wales and the West Country to persist through the evening hours as they track northeast across the Midlands. There is better agreement on a developing shortwave running northeast from the Irish Sea into northern England and Scotland on Tuesday evening and night, and this may lead to another wave of elevated thunderstorm clusters over these areas during the overnight period, with any activity across central and southern Britain generally quite isolated through this time.

Some storms have kicked off in central England but are moving that slowly it will be Friday morning before they here.

Far east of Sheffield and Rotherham may get something if the development keeps going that is.

Anyway rain dance completed and third pond topped up. Third time lucky perhaps
