Now closer, just had power dip, but I think it will just miss us, keeping to the west of Bridlington.

Maximum was 34.9c here today!

Possibly my highest recorded temp, I'll have to check.....

Glad it's a 1 day wonder though, it's too much. Not liking the look of the end of next week, looks hotter for longer

was over 34c officially here but my tempreture gauge on my car was showing 35c at my house and 36c at the bottom of Eckington and Halfway in Sheffield I cant even recall it doing that when it was actually 35c here last July.

Maybe the end of the next into the weekend may offer more chances of either record heat and or Storms.

A joke weather forecast missing all these showers! I've left my rabbits out in the garden at home and apparently they've had thunder!

Didn't expect to see these sharp showers either?

2 loads of washing out and now I'm tied to the rainfall radar 'till they've passed!!!

They appear to be slipping by to my E. but it's close!

We reached 30.8C in the end so joint 4th warmest day ever and joint warmest August day since 1990.

At least the humidity has dropped a little, but its stifling!

Just over 29C would have been higher but the light showers and cloud put a break on things until later in the afternoon. Today should be the peak of the heat if the latest GFS is right although everything will depend on how far north the low pressure will push. Sadly for South Yorkshire tonight's run puts a huge stake in the chance of any widespread storms however North Yorkshire looks a possibility Monday morning before everything moves away northwards. However tonight's run is certainly the unwanted guest at the party with little in the warm of Thundery activity any more and just warm humid nights at first although turning fresher later. Plenty of time to change still.

All change from the GFS some north sea crap tomorrow which if it doesn't clear will mean a cool day. Hopefully it will get the boot fairly quick tomorrow morning then heat returns from Monday and the storm risk goes up. Far far too early to get excited as this could all go again tomorrow.

Here on the moors we only reached 17.2C today and it's 13.1C now.
There's been some sunny spells too but typical low cloud off the sea now.

A heavy shower and a couple of rumbles of thunder. Didn't expect that.

Yup cell developed just to the south east of us and made it all the way into the north sea turning into a storm before dissipating over the north sea. Surprised it managed to do so as it would have been running into the mist and low cloud from the north sea.

Today is a question how long the north sea rubbish stays. Looks like it will hang around here all morning so it maybe a cool day and a fairly rubbish one on the coast.

Don't mind cool, I really don't get on with heat, and for me heat is 24+ so living where we do was a conscious decision when we moved from North Yorkshire the other side of the A1 about 15 years ago. Highest temp we have had in Bempton was 27 a couple of years ago.

I don't like heat either. Perfect weather for me is about 21C. Anyway little chance of heat today as the cloud persists. Looking like a cold day to come.

Sun finally came out after mid afternoon but not really breaking through until this evening. Could be a repeat performance tomorrow.

Yeah turned out disappointing.

At least it wasn't oppressive heat today. I'd rather be here than the South East lol.

Fingers crossed we get a good storm this week, but probably not!

We've done well for storms this year, overall.

As for the cloud, it has proven stubborn but looking at the high res models for tomorrow it shouldn't be as much of an issue with high cloud coming in from the south instead of eastern low cloud nonsense. Much warmer too with AROME going for 28C. It went for 22C today which wasn't far off the mark.

North sea rubbish already arriving much earlier than last night.

High cloud isn't the issue it's the low cloud from the coast and this evening forecast mentioned it again for tomorrow. Hopefully it won't last as long.

Yes there's no high cloud now but it is forecast at times tomorrow moving northwards. On the plus side most models have any low cloud dissipating mid morning at the latest tomorrow

Well, no low clouds here, just some patchy mid level stuff that's making for a cracking sunrise20200810_054507.thumb.jpg.c7859491c31107b8fabde07b65abaeb5.jpg
