Heavy shower in Rawdon, no thunder as of yet. Still feels really humid.

Sun's just about to break through here in 'Royd, you're about 1/2 hr behind us?

Well if nothing shows in the hour or so with the heating I think it's a bust.

You have to be joking right. Storms should break out anytime between now and 7pm. Our region is bang in high risk zone for storms today.

Hopefully that bit off cloud and crap to the west quickly clears north and the sun can get to work. Already a big clearance just to the south.

Sun finally trying to break through in Barnsley. We've pretty much missed out on all the storms recently. the few a couple of weeks ago passed just south.

What you reckon our chances are? (I'm in Garforth) I worry when the upper flow is anything west of due south that storms may miss us to our east, like the York supercell in July 2018. I much prefer a straight southerly!

Yeah we normally do best from storms coming up from the S-SW. That monster at the back end of May in 2017 springs to mind.

I'm hopefull as I believe the outbreak of storms later will be very widespread, but I'm a bit unsure as to which parts of our region the storms will be most focused/clustered..

As to our location your probably more clued up than me as to the specifics about getting a good storm here, as I've only recently moved over this end lol. Over leeds/bradford way that's a different matter lol.

I'm just seeing what pans out, if o0ur area was to miss it Im prepared to drive upto 40 miles either way to intercept : D

Now a beautiful if hot sunny day with only a few patches of cirrus around. Looks the storm are now breaking out to the north of us with the cold front providing the forcing. Certainly this afternoon is a bust whether the south with brew anything for us this evening is another matter.

Think you will be pleasantly suprised later.

Our storms later are already starting to develop further south in the form of cumulus clouds highlighted here.

I reckon if you do need to travel, east will be the direction, A64 maybe. But I'm certainly still hoping for a direct hit for us. We will see!

Met Office radar forecast shows they start to develop over the Midlands from about 3pm before becoming more organised.

I'd not worry yet.

We didn't think I'd outside gardening under clear skies and wondering whether we'd hit 30C. Very unlikely but we may hit 29C again.

Some cloud building going on now. Some showers have gone up just to the south of us so if anything kicks off it looks like we will be the breeding ground.

Local forecast has removed all storms for us on the latest update. A storm should go up the eastern side of Sheffield though if it gets this far.

Hmm hoping more storms fire up to the west side of the line that's developing. They're too far east for me at the moment. Only just getting going so next couple of hours should be revealing.

Can see the anvils of the Nottingham cells from here east of Leeds. Could be a nice view as they pass to the east as they are surrounded by clear skies

Thunder heard here to the south of us so get ready to those to the north of us. Radar stopped updating and there wasn't a cell there at 25 minutes past.
