Bit of welcome rain overnight which I think the lawn needed.

Nice now though very windy.

Very windy today, but after a damp start bright sunshine.

I went for my daily bike ride mid afternoon, and was directly into the wind going out, couple this with a climb out of our village, and a polite description would be character building. Coming back was amazing, 30mph down the hill and not quite keeping up with the cloud shadows. One of the windiest spells I can remember in early summer

Funny driving across the top today it got grass blowing across the road because it so dry. Normally get that when you're behind a hay wagon. Bone dry the group due to the lack of rain.

Just 33.2mm here since the end of February.

In 40 years of records the driest spring was 2011 with 51.0mm, so unless something unusual happens we're going to smash that.

Looking like we will make two new records. Driest May and driest spring on record. As long as there isn't any rogue showers in the next four days or sudden unexpected twist to the forecasting it seems a certainty.

Just had a hail shower in Bempton, small hail, smaller than pea size, but still hail, and unseasonably cold, 9C

Dreaded wood burner I hate those things. Fill my room with smoke and have to close the windows despite being to warm. Heating not required here still and that's despite some chilly nights.

Should turn warm and humid so I hope either the wind changes direction or my neighbours don't use the wood burner.

Fortunately low 20s are set to return later this week, albeit probably muggy and showery.

Met Office yellow warning for rain this evening and overnight. Warning matrix indicates low probability. Looking at weather charts looks unlikely to me, certainly not yellow warning levels, what do others think?

Much less rain so far than suggested by the GFS and local forecasts and much colder so sneaked another cold day.

Well a wet night and early morning, but certainly not even borderline 'Yellow warning' conditions here. Just cold, damp and grey.

Just watched them 'flood proof' the old opening to the old bridge......all hands to the breach in fact!

It can't be for the slight rain we've been having so are we expecting the fringes of tomorrows storms to dump enough rain for it to cause issues big enough for them to throw so many resources at this weak spot in our defences here in 'Royd?

Well another horrid cold day with mist drizzle, rain. Hopefully it will lift over the weekend. The mist and fog tomorrow morning will kill any chances of any proper storms. Possibly get a decaying one late in the evening if lucky. Hopefully see some sun again. However we don't get storms these days a few thundery showers perhaps but those few flashes and rumbles early this year were probably our quota for the year.

Well we're on the eastern side of the MetO warning so I'm hoping we get a few T storms trundling around us?

Will keep folk updated should we see some develop & travel up our way

Decent day for some in our region today with a good storm developing just north of Barnsley and tracking NW towards Bradford earlier this evening. A few weaker storms further SE over Bakewell earlier.

Tomorrow looks interesting for southern parts of the region...

Good start to the summer storms season with a direct hit on Sat. PM

Tracked it in from the other side of the Peak district (Sheff. way?) to here

2 Cells eventually joined just around us as the extra uplift from coming over the Peaks/S.Pennines imparted the extra 'Ooomph!!'

Towers to my west currently but not able to grow massive before collapse & decay...... lets see what all this heating will mean later this afternoon eh?

The one open horizon I have here is pointed right where any incoming will arise from..... an afternoon of cloud watching awaits!!!

Still no height being attained by cells that pop up.

Looks pretty explosive on the initial ascent but then they hit 'the wall', go 'poof', and collapse back down.....

Looks fun to my SW!!, M/cr/Salford/Bolton,Wigan,Preston all having fun!.....I wonder if their smashing 'the wall' will unzip the atmosphere behind them where there's still plenty of heat up for grabs for any parcel looking to take a trip up?
