Problem is their 850s are expected to be a bit lower than ours as the coldest wedge of the air flow is just south of us. Also I expect shower activity to be much stronger through the midlands with the cheshire gap perhaps coming into play later.

Hope I'm wrong but can't see any more than the odd slushy deposit overnight.

Ah yes, i had not noticed that. On the other hand being further east and north xcweather suggests that we have probably cooled down as fast if not faster. I would imagine at your height you'll have no problem when precipitation comes, less sure about me.

I never really expect much from shower activity anyway (in a westerly flow at least) but at least its a chance to notch up a potential covering.

Yeah a little bit of altitude certainly helps, but I'm always sceptical about anything coming in from that mild irish sea..

I think mondays event happened due to the precipitation being really heavy and evaporative cooling, there seemed to be little wind.

GFS brings a bit of interest again. This evening run pushes the rain further north so some Snow possible over the hills on Thursday. Could all change next run so not  a lot of confidence at the moment.

Do you recall your depth in Dec 10 and Jan 10?

8cm in Jan 10 and 27cm in Dec 10.

The last snowfall of more than 1cm was January 2013 when we had 10cm.

There's gonna be a fair bit of instability north of the low tomorrow morning which will instigate some streamers for long spells of snow.

Local forecast showing one example of how it could look if your under one.

Models have definitely upgraded the picture tonight, as the low deepens it forms the top part of a T over our region. Only a covering but at least most places should see a few hours.

Snowing again here and it looks like a good streamer setting in.

Feel like we could all see a bit of snow tonight more especially north/west and south yorkshire. The air just feels dryer and crisper than that mild mush last night, think the dew point of around 1-c at lba airport is conductive to this.

-5c uppers aren't perfect but I think if precipitation can be heavy enough and persistent we should be alright. Like the met office warnings more especially over 100m altitude..
